Saturday again! I've had the week off work & last night, we had friends over to watch the PWHL game. Bear decided to watch too (everyone watches women's sports! 😂) How about you?

These are SO cool

Oleis taught Madel the words he knew for the first frost of winter, for the sharp-ridged hills that rose behind them, for the sound of wings brushing treetops. Some of them he made up, some he learned from older people scattered around the forest. She gathered his story up along with the words and wrote them down.

Not fic, but I'm still noodling away at some original stuff via short story. This one is about knowledge and nature and being caught between two loyalties or desires.

Today's harvest! Asparagus, rhubarb, assorted herbs & a big haircut for the chives

I'm harvesting perennial herbs, asparagus, and rhubarb. Planted some tomatoes & tomatillos, marigolds & lobelia. I just got a replacement mint today because I don't think the one I had liked its location (the lemon balm is happy, though!)

This time of year is so busy in the garden! I'm trying to get the seeds I started ready to plant, buying the last seeds & starts for spring, and attempting to keep up with weeds & watering.

Honestly, I've never liked this song but I think it's a reflex

All of the millennials in this coffee shop singing along to Wake Me Up When September Ends lol

Plus all the guests brought something, so we ended up with a wonderful feast (photo below isn't even everything!)

The chicken was good and the cake was great! We hosted brunch today and made a bunch more stuff:
- jowl bacon (yum!)
- spinach goat cheese egg casserole
- raspberry/strawberry/rhubarb fool
- pan fried asparagus with lemon
- lemon balm sparkling water
- assorted cheese, salami & nuts

Oh wow, that looks amazing!

Yeah, I think it's nice to take a year if you can!
