Old oak tree with twisted branches in autumn woodland of ancient oaks
A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳
It seems to me that the debate over applying inheritance text to farmland has been v one sided. At the risk of making myself unpopular, a thread of observations follows:
1) For a couple leaving a farm to their descendants, the tax threshold is £3 million, not £1 million as widely stated.
I was a child of the 70s and remember asking what that funny bird was on the washing line. “Just a cuckoo” my mum replied. In my lifetime so many of our birds have followed the cuckoo’s decline. Shifting baselines mean children now need a nature GCSE more than ever. Any news on this? #naturewriting
Remember that footage of gamekeepers killing a Hen Harrier on a grouse moor?
Seen pictures of moors being set alight in recent weeks?
It’s time to ban driven grouse shooting.

Outrage as video shows fox caught in 'barbaric' snare trap on King's Sandringham estate
“This snare was placed alongside a rare Chalk Stream which is regularly used by otters”
Repost if you agree there should be a UK wide ban on these devices!
Stopped watching it years ago for that reason. It makes/made my piss boil.

The Sky Blue song - Coventry City Football Club (Cov' are known as The Sky Blues)
Top tip for campaigners annoyed about their large protests on important issues never getting much coverage: Why not simply become a wealthy farmer owning >£3 million in land, with a weekly column in The Sun
The difference a week makes
We've got it in Kenilworth/Cov area. Was quite surprised, didn't think it would come this far south.
About this time in the evening, we have to make sure we play with him, or he's an absolute sod come bedtime. If only he had an off button 🤣🤣
There's 12 profiteroles in the fridge with my name on them, but it would appear Saff has other ideas.
Went to see Ellie Gowers at the Canal Basin in Cov' 2 weeks ago. She was brilliant, just her and her guitar. Her first album was all about Warwickshire, it's places, history and traditions.
Alfie, the resident pain in the arse
