The motto is StoryCorps was "listening is an act of love." CONSCIOUS LISTENING, intimate listening!

I feel sick thinking that this phrase is being used as cover to make people think that list listening all the time (Siri, Alexa, Prego, etc.) is also an act of love.

Eg: Think of the last restaurant you ate at that offered eggs on its menu. On a scale from 1 to 9, how likely are you to recommend this restaurant to others, with 1 being "do not recommend" and 9 being "highly recommend."

I know I'm in the minority here and/or a crazy person. But I've stopped looking at the suggestion carousels almost entirely.

Predictive suggestions are trash when I explicitly do not want "more of the same."

The algorithm's recommendations for me are generally a complete waste of time. My process for finding new shows is literally go to the search tab and type in a random letter and see what the hell comes up.

This amazing owlbear cub was designed by @bextraordinary.bsky.social, who occasionally takes time away from her important work with criminal justice and public health to create devastatingly cute crochet patterns.

I have long hair, and more than one of the cats I've had would like to chew my hair. The ones that did this especially wanted to gnaw on it near the roots. I think they like something in the oils (?) from my scalp. πŸ˜‘

I love those doodleheads but ...no. Also: ow.

Even when they bolt, I love these. Possibly more (the flowers smell amazing)

Chevelle, Tool, Muse (mostly to exercise). The structure and narrative sequence of an album feel reassuring right now.

Used to be they could only share general "participation" data with your employer.

But that also doesn't stop the device company from slurping up whatever they get, so I just ignore those offers now.

I got something like that a few years ago and just never connected it. Not sure if yours allows that or would charge you.

Generally they are doing it to prompt even a people to make minor lifestyle changes that in aggregate greatly reduce costs to insurance.

One of my former students took her final project for my field natural history class and turned it into her Honors thesis: a 100% original, hand-drawn field guide to the rocky intertidal! And she got copies printed for her defense!

#1 thousands of years ago they'd be getting sick all the time

#2 type-O would often be like "guys why'd we even come to this stupid club for dinner, I'm allergic to EVERYTHING here" and sigh and pull out a vial of fridge blood while their friends just enjoy their normal ass dinner.

I couldn't QRT so this is an image of a post from user Seane ND Crafter ( @seanendcrafter.bsky.social ) dated 2026 Apr 8, 1:41pm Pacific time:

"Oh noes! Better go get some for yourself.

"Wait, do vampires have to worry about whether their blood type matches the blood type of the person they're drinking from???"

How annoying would it be to be a vampire who can only consume blood of the same type (or maybe only the type they would be able to receive transfusions for?).

Probably super annoying.
I love this.

Hi all, its your friendly neighborhood retired therapist here to remind you that the horrors persist and so do we!

Have you:
-had a glass of water or something liquid that is not caffeinated recently?
-used any calming or grounding techniques you like?
-eaten a food?

If not, do that now. πŸ’œ

I think this is super regional.

I've lived in Calif, the Midwest and New England, family in Canada. Saw regional cultures' relationships to soups and stews vary a lot. What's in stores was still crap but the at-home game was often awesome, and ppl seemed to do more of it.
