Two cents:
The increase in wealth inequality should not necessarily be a justification for wealth taxes (a whole complicated issue worthy of a distinct discussion) but it should certainly motivate democracies to find new ways to shield the democratic process from very large wealth.
Very good piece by @drodrik.bsky.social - highly relevant to UK/Europe as well as US

Hundreds of workers, some in high viz vests, cover the floor of Notre Dame cathedral with a photo taken from above, looking down the length of the restored building.
An incredible photo posted today by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The floor of Notre Dame Cathedral is filled with the workers involved in the 5 year project to restore the building following the devastating fire in 2019.

To me, he's also been an amazing PhD supervisor and mentor!
My university is awarding a well-deserved honorary doctorate to Max Roser @maxroser.bsky.social for his work making global data accessible and promoting informed discussions about the world’s achievements and challenges 👏.
In the good company of, amongst others, primatologist Frans de Waal.

Schrijf u hier in 👇🏻

Very sensible: this will benefit both Spain's economy/society and the migrants themselves.
