Thank you to everyone who reached out over the past couple of days. I’m okay.
I’m not sure what to do with myself at this point, so I’m going to take a week long solo roadtrip across Oregon. I think I just need to be elsewhere for a bit.

That’s stupid thing to say. I was clearly mad from the start of this thread. I didn’t suddenly get mad when your dumb ass showed up.
Personally I don’t think it’s fair to lay the blame on the artists. If you’re passionate about creating and those views equate to being able to make a living doing it, that’s not an insubstantial motivator. It’s the result of people trying to navigate a hostile system that’s obsessed with “metrics”.
The thing actually worth getting upset about is about how all media now exists in a system where you’re constantly fighting for people’s attention in some hope that the benevolent and mysterious “algorithm” will bless you with many people clicking on your work so you can make $0.23 in royalties
I just can’t imagine getting upset about it. Like, you don’t have to listen to Geese if you don’t want to, it’s not like their success means a more deserving artist won’t be successful now, and if it resonates with people I don’t think they’ll care about how it got to them.
At the end of the day, you have to separate marketing from the product, because is just a means of getting it into listeners hands. Remember “Brat summer”? That album had pretty aggressive marketing, but the album was good, so no one cares about how manufactured that whole marketing campaign was.
I can understand where marketing strategies like that would feel weird if the music industry was a strict meritocracy, but when has that ever been the case? I just can’t be bothered to care if a musician uses the same systems that make being a musician miserable in 2026 to their advantage.
Being a musician in the year 2026 is miserable. It’s so hard to get people to listen to your work, you get paid pennies via streaming, the best way to get continued traction is to release shorter songs more frequently. it fucking sucks.
The marketing had no bearing on the music itself, and aggressive marketing doesn’t mean real people will care. Getting a recommendation algorithm to bite by creating artificial engagement doesn’t feel all that much worse than how Spotify works once you start really getting into it.
I guess there’s a whole debate about the band Geese being industry plants or something, but if you actually read anything beyond an article headline, it’s mostly just because there was some interesting digital marketing to basically force it into the algorithm, which feels like fair game imo.
that’s sorta all you really need tbh. I love all my gizmos, but the potential downside when making music is you have to dedicate a fair amount of time learning how they work.
I’ll get a video when it’s actually all setup and working properly.
At this rate I’m going to need more sequencers if anyone has any recommendations.
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get things setup so I could just hit record and jam out a bunch of stuff, but good lord it’s been a nightmare to get things to actually function properly.
It’s true! That is what they call you!

performing live electronic music with exclusively hardware seems like a recipe for disaster. No one should put that much faith in Midi.

last one because I ruined a perfectly good 1/8th to 1/4th adapter doing this and because it’s the first time the Flashback X4 has ever been useful to me.
Hell yeah
my guess is as good as yours
This is so sad… so basically she’s not used to Earths gravity after space travel and so it cripples her, bringing her to her knees in front of a common beast
I’m going to get my 2011 Kia Soul to hit that 310db benchmark by any means necessary
Im kind of surprised there’s not more software out there that allows you to get creative with editing spectrograms, but I don’t have $300 to drop on Metasynth right now, so I’m doing it the hard way.
Oh boy…So somehow it’s starting to seem like the most viable option for what I want to do is to literally convert the audio files spectrogram to an image file, opening it in photoshop and editing it with a whole lot of math, then converting the edited image back to an audio file.
I’m definitely going to do it! It’s definitely easier to do that sort of elaborate sound design when it’s not for my own song, but I generally enjoy the process! the problem solving is cool and it pretty much always results in something pretty unique sounding.
