Correct, it is not true of public universities (I should have been more clear on that point).

Actually I have been thinking about it for years, but this was specifically due to a conversation I had with one of my kids about university unions.
So here’s something that doesn’t receive enough attention: University governing boards have no oversight. They appoint their own successors and only *they* can remove themselves. There is literally zero accountability. At least corporate boards (theoretically) answer to shareholders.
It’s mind boggling how many people actually think it is.
We have to be living in a simulation. This can’t be real.
