Nope. And apparently if you are in the later boarding groups it’s pretty much guaranteed you will need to gate check your carryon. I really don’t want to do that since I have to change planes each way!
Do they let you use the points before you pay for the ticket for the upgrade? It doesn’t give me the option now. I’m fine with my seats. I just want them to stay that way!
That’s their problem. No longer a budget airline, and not as good as the other guys. Why should I pay those rates to fly on your still budget airline? (I’m still using work trips to stockpile points I never use personally.🤦🏼♀️)

My upcoming work trip is on Southwest, as usual. The nightmare stories on the subreddit are certainly making me think I need to use my points and then pick a new airline for work moving forward. Pricing doesn’t make sense anymore.

It’s a touchy subject for me! No one intends to ruin your vacation. Mistakes happen. Mechanical systems fail. As the manager I’m often the one giving the explanation that one does not want to hear. Not a fun part of my job. I would rather everyone’s stay be flawless.
In a lot of hotels the key machine is in no way connected to the property management system. So we check you in, and then input the room number and number of nights in a separate machine to encode keys. Mistakes are so easy to make.
No one intentionally gives out keys to someone’s room.
They don’t want to deal with the fallout when folks come back to the desk acting like the worst thing in the world has happened!
On your post: I worked in a hotel with hard keys. You had to switch door knobs with doors elsewhere when someone took
a key. Then I got to make a new key on the key machine. Whenever I get keys cut I wonder if I can still do that!
Commenting on the story…use your deadbolt folks. People make mistakes. Front desk workers accidentally make the key for the wrong room, or write down the wrong number, or folks who were supposed to move don’t. Things happen.
Dammit.
