In case y'all are wondering, Gen AI is being used regularly in major studios and they are not admitting it.

No amount of AI literacy can protect us because the problem isn’t knowledge, or how to use the system, it’s that the system exists in a culture that has been radically structured around white supremacy and patriarchy and your precious autocomplete incorporates it into its operations.
RIP a century of law enforcement attempts to infiltrate the Cosa Nostra.
You would have loved the Prego Dinner Conversation Recording Device
Anyone arguing that some flavor of AI literacy will protect women from AI deep fake porn is at best unserious and at worst desperate to protect their automated goon generator. This is prima facie not a literacy problem.
Spent Sunday being angry and testing my own ethics. I'm just so sick of having to give up things I love because other people/corporations suck.
Which, I get it, first world problems, but I'm tired and my mental health is in the gutter.
So I got hit with a layoff notice on Friday, just due to contract financials. I have a couple months left with the company to wind things down and do handoffs, etc, but I'm officially looking for something new.
Cybersecurity, director-ish level. If anyone has some connections, let me know!
FWIW the right-wing lies about "not teaching western civ" were simply political attacks on (a) colleagues and students of color, and (b) the project of higher education generally.
the point was to control it. the right doesn't give 2 shits about what's taught, as long as they're in charge.
If you’ve read the thread posted by palantir on X and are shocked, please read this piece that @tlecaque.bsky.social and I wrote 9 months ago. Palantir has not been shy about its fascist agenda, and neither has Karp, who has been rambling about Western Supremacy in text & video form for a while now
Lot of people discussing this with the idea of failing faster. I would put it to you that failure doesn’t actually have to exist at all in this conception. One of the great mistakes of the AI brouhaha is the belief that art is good because of its craft or content. It is good because it connects us.
I hate Al and I refuse to use it Peter, if you don't use Al a bunch of super rich men will lose a lot of money I already said I hated Al Harry, you don't need to sell it to me
I'm fully on the side of yes, it actually is the fucking Babadook.
The cover of the novel Beautiful Nights by Nina George. The title is centered at the top in white letters with the author's name centered at the bottom in the same way. The cover image is a blue photo of the sea, with an inset black and white photo of two women's legs sitting in the surf.
I just finished Beautiful Nights by Nina George. It's the kind of book that gives you a hangover. You don't know what to read next because you're sad that it's over even though it was perfect as it was.
I highly recommend it. Just be ready to be happy and sad the whole way.

Browsing this company's website and the only way I can describe what I'm seeing is imagine a school shooter was a management consultant
Such a weird brag. Humans who run races don't run to beat machines. Cars go faster than us, as do horses, for that matter. A robot beating a human record doesn't change that record. As a feat of engineering it's impressive until I ask what the applications are, because I can't think of benign ones.
You mean, the way that … reading does?
Increasingly impossible to exist at all without a tech company claiming control or ownership over you, your identity, and/or any information about you.
And, no, "just stay offline" isn't really a solution. We've all but made living without using the internet impossible.
We need a better compact.
I really wish more people had paid attention when several observers tried to warn about the technofascist and eugenicist tendencies of thiel and karp and that group, for rolling up on two decades, now.
And i *Really* wish the media & political actors would take the threat of them seriously, today 😕
Feeling particularly defeated this morning. Between not sleeping, work stress, and fucking 'ai' stealing all my joy and creativity... Along with, you know, everything in the world right now.
Yeah, I'm just about done.
You cannot be seriously adopting “concerns” as a way of defending yourself on the AI academy bullshit. You sold out to AI money. No one will trust a damn thing you have to say on the subject. You’re offering a belated reaction to the thing you showed terrible judgment on to begin with. Come on, now.
Fuck the blender donut guy. There are much better tutorials and even aside from being an AI shill, he's a creep
A really gross nzi mobile covered in advertising for a company called USA Insulation parked in a parking garage in downtown Pittsburgh. What an absolute loser.
Businesses really are getting better at letting you know ahead of time to never ever use their services.
Its not a hot take but man the way the word "content" is used these days. A vile bit of late stage capitalist propaganda, lumping all forms of human creativity and expression into a single wastebin teaching the public to treat all art as disposable.
The Free Speech Coalition is serious about starting an adult industry credit union. Part of this is being able to show regulators that enough people would use it, so please fill out this form if you're interested!
(Yes, credit unions can issue credit cards!)

is the 'dangerously capable AI' in the room with us right now?
All the grifters running the 'if anyone builds it we all die' track deserve the same end as the original AI grifters.
That resurrected Val Kilmer thing is so ghoulish, I hope actors are writing this out of their contracts
Brad Lander gestures with palm facing upwards at a rally in front of City Hall. Person in the background holds a sign reading "AI rots your brain"
@bradlander.bsky.social at today's @aimoratoriumnyc.bsky.social rally at City Hall Park. Organizers including @climatefamsnyc.bsky.social are calling for a morartorium on "A.i." in the NYC public schools.
“Take a moment to think before you dive in. That’s the best advice for Google Photos users, as the company confirms its latest update can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image generation.”
