whatever light we manage here, what love, like a beam in black space, will accompany us out.

Words by Jeffrey Skinner
Self-portrait with an 85mm near Lauvtjern
This is my love letter to Østmarka that I’ll never stop writing all my life, and these are the trees I will haunt in the next one

I was able to be so relaxed and at one with my creativity, knowing it was just me, the toads, the deer, and the beetles.

It was a long journey to this spot but I was so moved by how solitary it was. When you shoot nude self portraits alone you are naturally afraid of people coming by. Both of scaring others or experiencing violence, even in a safe place like Norway. You have no backup out there.

It was one long, long mama perm. Come to Oslo and let’s go on a photo adventure!

A million weird slimy living things in this water. I was fine as long as I was focused on the self portrait at hand, and only creeped out when I let my imagination drift to what my toes were feeling…

It’s a mystery to me why we’re all lingering somewhere that so obviously hates us and wants to mine our subconsciousnesses for cold sweet ad cash.

I have recently experienced a full return to my creative soul after a kind of “maternity leave” from being able to give a shit about it. I feel it burns brighter now having known my little love.

Two shots from a sea of ferns, taken yesterday in Lillomarka. The silence was enchanting, broken occasionally by the giggle of my toddler half a kilometre down a path as she foraged wild strawberries with her dad.

You are so kind! Thank you! It felt miraculous to capture it at all, I was certain there wasn’t enough light but was desperate enough to capture the composition I tried anyway. I was so relieved checking the results on the long train home

It was a challenge because there were no other light sources. So it was an exercise in creativity… here is your spot, what can you make right here

Self portrait. This was the very last light my skin could manage to reflect as night fell deep in the woods.
