i'd say it's a fairly even split whether they're animals or characters! I also fully get the choice though; i love IDW Ravage to death and all, but when the cast is so large as is, it makes sense to trim some of the fat by making him Soundwave's kitty

it's crazy how much of the transformers cast are bonafide Potential Men because so many of them got interesting layered personalities in their bio as a possibly bouncing pad for cool stories and then both Sunbow and Marvel ignored them entirely
