It’s been a long journey, unlearning how I was taught to write in grad school to editing gallery texts that viewers want to read.

One of my worst nightmares as a new managing editor was a disastrous production! Knock on wood…that hasn’t happened yet.

I recently received a certificate of copyright for an exhibition catalog, and it did not have Perlmutter's usual signature across the top...just a blank space.

Adding to the annals of Spellcheck Won’t Save You…gouache is not the same thing as gauche. I mean, I suppose gouache could be gauche, but that’s a whole different conversation. #amediting

So completely pleased with how the commission turned out! Feeling so lucky and grateful to see this every day now. @lizaadamczewski.bsky.social is a gem!

Two books on a table. One has a green cloth cover and is titled Kent Monkman: History is painted by the Victors. A floating Miss Chief is above the gold lettering of the title. The other book has a paper cover with a black-and-white photo of a moon jar titled Lunar Phases: Korean Moon Jars. The title is printed as a holograph near the bottom of the cover.

I can’t imagine two more different exhibition catalogs. But they are two of the best we’ve produced! (Editors, don’t get me started on that lowercase “is” in that title…)
