Hi from Creative Code Night Denver!
@todepond.com wish you were here!
We made a game like that there!
Oh, this is the best thing ever.
Gosh, thank you.
If you want to go to one of the best conference ever, this is highly recommended. Also the aesthetics and community is like the best of an era we all create but can rarely step into.
@blaine.bsky.social This is great! Thanks so much!!
All of that is possible! An inspiration board you control without ads would be mighty nice.
Part of them I can store on a NAS, a few more in PhotoPrism, and more on neocities.org where I can mess around with them better.
So goodbye, Pinterest. Thanks for all the phish.
Am I happy for my years on Pinterest? Absolutely.
Am I glad to be rid of and self host those files? Yes, definitely.
In this narrow period of time, PikaPods and other nice managers exist, where I can control my media but not have to maintain the system itself. A nice middle ground.
When I found Pin Downloader, I was really happy, and after some back and forth with the developer, he added a few features, like folder segmentation. This made things incredible.
...except it had to monetize itself. As the ads slowly crept in, and I tried to fight them off, I eventually found some that were very helpful. But then I found my experience of a digital pinboard wasn't really there anymore.
For my birthday, a friend actually built a cute clone of it in Ruby. It looked great! But it didn't have the discovery.
So over the next decade, I "discovered" through Pinterest. A massive amount of specific aesthetics and deep cuts. It was a blast for a time...
Pinterest was founded in Dec 2009 and launched as a closed beta in March 2010 before public access later in August 2010.
I joined Pinterest on a cold Jan 20, 2011. By May, I was trying to see if I could run my own, but the site's discovery feature was excellent, so I enjoyed unlimited browsing.
I just completely knocked out my Pinterest account.
Over 160K pins. Not gone forever, because I used pintoolbox.com and GoFullPage - Full Page Screen Capture chromewebstore.google.com/detail/goful... To get the images of the collection pages. Now I have my own offline archive that I'll self host.
Tahini Not-An-Artist (my parents were punks)
Also excellent colors!
Anemoia: longing to live in an era you were not born.
Is there a term for wishing to live in the social class you were not born?
Yay!
Nicely done, Bart!! Keychains next?
Wow, no wonder!
