Now out in its final form in @jacs.acspublications.org: Reaction pathways & photoreaction yields of bifunctional lipid probes. The numbers that explain why we spend so much time optimizing protocols for cellular assays. 😉 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
We offer a PostDoc position for a fully funded project on lipid-encoded #lipidtime protein quality-control checkpoints at the Golgi: great collaborators, excellent working & living conditions & benchspace with a view ;) Please share and repost!
Postdoctoral researcher @isaacsiuwong.bsky.social in the @hymanlab.bsky.social @mpi-cbg.de is 2026 Grass Fellow @grassfoundation.bsky.social @mblscience.bsky.social. 🎉 He will pursue his project “Dancing diatoms as a proto-neural model” at MBL for 14 weeks. www.mpi-cbg.de/news-outreac...
Looks like a great @embo.org workshop coming in September: “Lipid Code to Life”, with a who’s who of lipid #biochemistry… (e.g. @dimovalab.bsky.social @holthuislab.bsky.social @sciezgin.bsky.social etc ) More info and registration: meetings.embo.org/event/26-lip... #lipids #biophysics
Busy lipids in nano hotspots: a team with @mathilda95.bsky.social, @nadlerlab.bsky.social & Ori Avinoam @weizmanninstitute.bsky.social developed Lipid-CLEM - an imaging technique to make lipids in cellular membranes visible & show how they are organized at nanoscale. www.mpi-cbg.de/news-outreac...
Thanks Sahar!
I actually really wanted to but I ran out of time for more condition testing 🥲. I would be super curious how well it would perform. A great experiment for the future!
Thanks Pavel! I am also very glad its out, haha.
Thanks Yohann!
Big shoutout also to the unsung heroes from the EM, light microscopy, genome engineering, scientific computing, and organoid facilities @mpi-cbg.de, and @paoloronchi.bsky.social and Viola Oorschot! Thanks, everyone, for your help!
This work was such a great team effort, and it would not have been possible without @nadlerlab.bsky.social limitless support; our fantastic collaborators from the Avinoam lab: Ori, Suman, and Nadav; and all other co-authors: Weihua, Kristin, Gunar, @ykswld.bsky.social , Falk, and Michaela.
I am extremely excited that my first first-author paper from my PhD is finally out 😆!! We developed a new CLEM workflow to measure lipid densities at the nanoscale. So if you are into lipids and super-resolution imaging approaches, this one is for you: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
This is amazing! My mind is boggled. Congrats to the whole team.
Janelia is hiring! "Invent new imaging methods, molecular tools, or protein chemistry approaches"

Lipid imaging on the cover of @nature.com! Great times for lipid cell biology indeed. And a fantastic recognition of all the hard work by the team, especially Juan M. Iglesias-Artola and Kristin Böhlig (who made the cover). Link to article: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Finally out! This is an amazing story on lipid trafficking and how to visualize membrane lipids inside of cells! Check it out. I am honored I could contribute a little to this story 😁
We are hiring!
If you are looking for a postdoc position and you are interested in signaling lipids and proteomics, come join us in beautiful Switzerland!

This was such an amazing conference! I learned a ton about cell polarity and membrane trafficking 🤩. Thanks to the organizers for giving me the chance to present my work, to all the wonderful people I met, and to FEBS for the support!
I am really excited that the second story of my PhD work is on biorxiv now. If you are into lipids, membrane trafficking and super resolution microscopy check it out! Big shout out also to our collaborators, the Honigmann lab and Modes lab.
It’s incredibly hard to study lipids in biological membranes on the nanoscale. You need near-perfect information on both membrane ultrastructure and lipid density, which usually isn’t attainable. Lipid-CLEM brought to you by @mathilda95.bsky.social changes that.
