Hi! Yes migration is all linked to the weather. Wind direction is key, but if the weather is unsuitable where the birds are departing from no matter how good your wind is they won't arrive. Every year is different depending on the weather.

Quiet the last few days @longpointbirds.bsky.social with poor wind direction for migration. But some classy birds in the nets with Brown Thrasher & Rusty Blackbird both very welcome.
A few bits trickling in today @longpointbirds.bsky.social First but rather drab Pine Warbler, Purple Martin & Brown Thrasher. Nets are still catching some exquisite Fox Sparrows.
Cold east wind today @longpointbirds.bsky.social Migration seems to be briefly paused. A few Fox Sparrows & Golden-crowned Kinglets banded. Also this western style or intergrade Junco about.
Northern Flickers arrived in very impressive numbers @longpointbirds.bsky.social Over 600 counted in just two hours. Also hundreds of Kinglets & Creepers #birdmigration #birding
