Hi! Yes migration is all linked to the weather. Wind direction is key, but if the weather is unsuitable where the birds are departing from no matter how good your wind is they won't arrive. Every year is different depending on the weather.

A slow week of migration despite some rather suitable conditions @longpointbirds.bsky.social So still low numbers of expected migrants. However Ovenbird & Yellow Warbler did sneak in to keep us happy.

Quiet the last few days @longpointbirds.bsky.social with poor wind direction for migration. But some classy birds in the nets with Brown Thrasher & Rusty Blackbird both very welcome.

The strong southwest winds delivered this rather stunning first year White-eyed Vireo. After so many hours in the field this autumn, I was very pleased to take this reward for my efforts #rarebird #Ontario #birding

Recently, half a dozen Gray Kingbirds have shown up well outside their normal range of the Caribbean. I caught up with this one, the 9th record for Ontario. #rarebird #birding #Ontario
