The strait carries around 70-80% of Japan’s crude oil imports and about 10% of its LNG, according to Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Major shipping companies including Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, NYK Line, and Kawasaki Kisen have halted Persian Gulf operations, and the conflict is also disrupting travel and markets. Flight schedules at Tokyo’s Narita Airport are uncertain. Tokyo says there is no immediate supply crisis because Japan holds roughly 254 days of oil reserves and utilities have about three weeks of LNG supply.
