we're talking about the US ? I'm not familiar with union history in the US much (your unions are a bit weird :p) I also don't know if ERG are vampirising other actions or not in practice but in theory it really feels like it !

its cheaper to pay for pizza once a month than to give power to any form of class consciousness that would lead to a union taking more power in the company.

I think the key takeaway here is that picnics are a way for company to pretend they care for a very little cost, when say, union would DEMAND (or else...) for black employees to be paid the same as white employees, and hiring to stop discriminate, etc. Very material demands.

there is way more advantage to build a special weird tool that fixes a small special problem than massive everything but the kitchen sink solutions. I just did one today and its very good

what the fuck the concept of the alters is excatly what I'm exploring in a game idea I'm fleshing out. What could have been, exploring the road that you didn't take in the past and what you could have become. They make all your versions cohabits and that's an interesting idea !

Notch is still making games ?

I'm a first light DLSS hater ! My theory is that we stuck to it because nobody want to spend money optimising games (or tech) anymore. Games are more expensive to render for few or no graphic improvments

Very good article ! But isnt neural rendering (that you mention at the end) something a bit different ? Like, making the rendering process bidirectional so you can gradient descent it ? Maybe its what they are doing though I assumed it was more like running filter on the frames
