When they disable DS9 at the end of season 5 I wonder if O'Brien was pissed off because he had to fix it all or really excited because he gets to fix it all.
I try not to examine the plot too closely on DS9 episodes because the message is what I think matters, but yeah. That episode tied up very loosely in the end.

Directed by LeVar Burton. It has the scene where Miles gives Dax a farewell message he recorded for Keiko and Molly and they talk about the strange nature of putting your life in danger during your job. I always thought that was a very interesting insight.
About half way through Season 4 and we're solidly into "how much abuse can O'Brien take" territory. Poor guy!
Truly, throughout the series it feels more like we're just finding out about him instead of his character developing, although he does go through some really amazing changes as well.
And don't even get me started on Garak. Chefs kiss every episode
I'm on my 3rd watch through of DS9 and one of the things that really strikes me is how nuanced Quark is. In this scene where Odo is upset about Kira, Quark frames his advice as a business matter because he knows Odo would be suspicious if he just tried to be a friend. But you can tell he cares.
"Perhaps if I am more... inhospitable, he will stop."
