Teach a man who hates socialism and votes for authoritarianism to farm and he can receive socialist handouts for life from the government that bankrupted him in the first place.

Well the universe is just being fair, you handed out “catawampus” today! - the use inferred the meaning but I still went to the dictionary…

It’s the cost of civilization. You live by the sea but you want cheap clean electricity without burning the world down? Imagine all the people in the 1880s saying “hey don’t build that coal power station, it’s ugly, I’m good with candles and newspapers forever thanks”

Piece of work seems harsh..? Featherbrained numpty for sure. If I knew that is how you get to be head of NASA… wow I took the wrong career advice. (There is ZERO chance he knows what NASA is an acronym for)

One of the things that *actually*, *truly* makes America great is NASA. And Trump has slit its throat.

I mean- I show them how to use Wikipedia, which in astronomy often has primary source citations for data- so they can use those. Also how to identify reliable sources via the web address and/or author information. Another thing I certainly do is use online OpenStax textbooks, which are free.

I fully appreciate your remarks there, and they are justified. My angle was that I try my hardest every semester to explain to my students why Wikipedia isn’t a source, and to see academics use jt as one feels like I’m shouting into a void.

Your post was very interesting, I just don’t know why you would bother to add references, then cite wikipedia. From a fellow academic.

… because it’s not a primary source?!

Only my 2 cents but… Because Cuomo is a word starting with C, rhyming with bunt. He shows that he doesn’t give a sh1t about doing his job. It’s the usual story, it’s a chance to get out of a shitty regime and the right/rich are scared by it

Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

A “first stab at fact checking” gtfoh. It means to stupid and too lazy to check things yourself.

You sound stupid, and yet boast so loudly that NYT hit you up for a chat about this. Imagine trying to educate people and all those people do is ask AI. Future is bleak- be proud you are helping champion that.

I can’t believe the NYT times would run a story like this? Reminds me of a post I saw yesterday saying if it weren’t for puzzles and food, that rag would be history.

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.
