A black-and-white photograph shows a surreal street scene against the exterior wall of an old building. Set into the wall is a deep rectangular window recess framed in pale stucco, with a pair of weathered wooden shutters closed inside it. Resting on the windowsill is a human-like face or mask with dark, hollow-looking eyes and a solemn expression. Rising dramatically from the top of the head is a large spiky succulent or agave-like plant, its long pointed leaves fanning upward and outward like an extravagant headdress, with several tall flower stalks extending above it.

Below the sill, a person stands with their back to the camera, reaching both arms straight up to grip the ledge. They have long, dark hair hanging down their back and wear a loose, light-colored coat or jacket. The composition makes it look as though the figure is either lifting the plant-headed face into place or clinging beneath it, creating an eerie, dreamlike illusion. The lower part of the wall is faced with rough stone, contrasting with the smoother stucco above, and the entire image has a grainy, slightly worn texture.

Right, no need for the crossbar to kick off a sentence. I've made that mistake, I'll never make it again. I'd feel like a fool, when I've got better things to think about.

Black-and-white photo of a person standing in a sunflower field with a large sunflower bloom completely covering their face. Both arms hang loosely among the broad leaves, with a ring visible on one finger. The bright flower is centered against a glowing sky, creating a surreal, eerie portrait with other sunflowers and dark tree silhouettes in the background.

I have a collected edition of Bellamy's Fraser Of Africa, which I sometimes thumb through and say "The trees! Look at those trees!"

A man in the foreground looks towards a man and woman who approach in futuristic clothing.
Man in foreground: The end of the world!
Man in background: You hear it? There is only one thing I can do!
Woman in background: Oh, Clive, dear no! Not that! Not that!
All around the words 'TicToc, TicToc, TicToc' hang in the air.

Ok I have seen a GOOD APRIL FOOLS JOKE in the wild.

My kids comic (Phoenix - home if @jamiesmart.bsky.social) comes in an envelope every week, we open it, had a fake cover for a soup review mag like we’d been sent the wrong thing.

Genius!

Alice Augusta Ball found the cure for leprosy at 23.

She died in a mysterious lab accident at 24.

Arthur Dean stole her research, stole it and renamed it from "The Ball Method" to "The Dean Method."

It took 90 years before her original research papers were found and she got the credit due to her.

"Are you going out on the wily, windy moors" I asked, as she headed out into the storm to commence filming for a friends project.

"No" she replied. "Clapham."

Album cover of Jimmy Smith's 'The Cat', showing a blurry photo of a black cat walking through a misty layer, against a red background.

Even if swinging, big band backed Hammond organ grooves are not your bag, you probably want this just for the cover?

Someone apologising to their cat for farting, or the cat reflection on it's bodily functions? Either way, it's more respectable than chat gpt.

Never underestimate the power of a positive supportive post/comment you make to an artist. Sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps them going.

It's easy to draw women as sexually attractive but I often think capturing femininity has far more of a magical charm to it. I don't claim to be that talented at it but I never get tired of trying!

I wonder why British publications italicised text in word balloons, while American ones used italics for the captions instead? This kind of thing keeps me awake at night.

My introduction to comics! I had a sister (ten years older) who had the annuals and before I could read, I was obsessed with Beryl. At that age I didn't even realise she was a girl and by the time I found out, Davy Law had already convinced me girls could do anything boys could do - possibly more!
