In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the pope, who prosecutes the offenders.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

@erinscafe.bsky.social rewatching the west wing and can’t stop thinking about the video of you singing the theme, but just using the words of the title of the show, over and over.
That’s not THAT weird right?

I admit that my rewatch of the West Wing is deeply strange at the end of 2025. At turns depressing, ridiculous, self satisfied, smug, etc etc. for example S3 is stark reminder of how Sorkin processed 9/11 and some of it gaspingly stupid. Yet, it is not as naive or American-centric as I recalled.

Friends. You cannot appease racists and xenophobes. No amount of hard line immigration annoucements will ever be enough. Centrists will lose their soul by playing footsie with Farage.

If you want to be able to do something well, you gotta do it in such a way that it gets etched on your heart

One of the dangerous things about AI is it presents a deceptively easy way for folks to cut all of that out in a lot of fields

So this ad revenue metric is indicative of such a fascinating and weird set of business decisions by Google to inexplicably kill of SEO-- and I honestly don't get how they think this is going to pay off for them in the long run.

Trump’s Epstein Humiliation Grows The president saw defeat and ran. But that doesn’t mean the fight over releasing the files is over.

Trump retreats on Epstein files. Three lessons:

1. It can be easier to fracture the MAGA coalition than get "responsible" Republicans to step up.

2. Democrats should fight rather than find reasons not to fight.

3. Dems need to be anti-elitist not just anti-GOP.

White House East Wing will be torn ‘within days’ even as no plans filed for Trump’s new ballroom Demolition has drawn fierce backlash, with National Trust for Historic Preservation saying plans are ‘legally required’

I don’t really care about the White House given the various assaults underway but I can’t shake the feeling this is more than mere metaphor.

If Democrats Want to Rebuild Trust, Start with the Epstein Files If we don't at least try to hold the rich and powerful criminals accountable, why should anyone trust us to fight for them?

"On both ethics and politics, this is the right fight.

If Democrats can’t find the courage on their own, they should borrow it from the survivors—who risked their privacy, their healing, and their safety to demand justice. We owe them the same level of resolve."
