Launching a new game is even more terrifying than the IRS

One of the reasons that the willful blindness about AI from people with platforms on the left is shortsighted is that “hope it goes away” doesn’t have a great track record as a strategy for contesting control of new political domains and technologies.
Oh ha, I was thinking of the JRPG game! Will check this one out too :)
Sea of Stars is delightful. No brainer buy at $0.99
Wow, appreciate the clear stance. Do you think Outersloth will still have that clause in place (exactly as strict as written) in two years?
If so, would you be open to a charity bet?
Right!
Hi, I'm a real person. Would you say this to my face if we met in real life?
Hi, two questions:
If a dev you funded wanted to use an AI coding agent (eg, Claude Code) for a small their, would you approve that usage (via email, as per your contract)?
Also, if you funded a game and later found out they did use Claude Code and didn't disclose, would you consider legal action?
🥰
Appreciate it! Good luck to you as well :)
Aww yall are too kind 🥰
You can respond to me right here! Genuinely curious to hear your thoughts.
No worries. I wish we could be more civil, too.
I’m doing my best to start the conversations that I think need to start happening and not letting the vitriol get to me too much.
I don't think it's fair to say @parallaxstella.bsky.social attacked me here. Obviously we disagree, but I feel that we can talk about this from a place of mutual respect.
Sounds good, would love to hear your thoughts :)
Hi @parallaxstella.bsky.social, great to hear from you. I'm curious what about my attitude disappoints you here. If I recall right, I showed you some of the AI stuff we were working on at DICE and you seemed very open minded about it!
Am also happy to chat by email or Zoom if you'd prefer :)
This leads to my final suggestion: a technique for determining when you're on the right track. You're on the right track when people complain that you're unqualified, or that you've done something inappropriate. If people are complaining, that means you're doing something rather than sitting around, which is the first step. And if they're driven to such empty forms of complaint, that means you've probably done something good. If you make something and people complain that it doesn't work, that's a problem. But if the worst thing they can hit you with is your own status as an outsider, that implies that in every other respect you've succeeded. Pointing out that someone is unqualified is as desperate as resorting to racial slurs. It's just a legitimate sounding way of saying: we don't like your type around here. But the best thing of all is when people call what you're doing inappropriate. I've been hearing this word all my life and I only recently realized that it is, in fact, the sound of the homing beacon. "Inappropriate" is the null criticism. It's merely the adjective form of "I don't like it." So that, I think, should be the highest goal for the marginal. Be inappropriate. When you hear people saying that, you're golden. And they, incidentally, are busted.
Time to reread this paulgraham.com/marginal.html
Wanna make video games? (Sorry had to)
Seriously? :(
wait, fuck, this is gorillaz

That killed on slashdot back in the day
Every day I wake up and deal with people romanticizing the early 2000s and making me feel old

Someone a decade+ younger than I asked me if I saw the Matrix in theaters and how cool that must have been
Perceived ingroup vs perceived outgroup dynamics, nothing more complicated than that, I expect
This is where Grok comes in
@alexr.bsky.social youtu.be/TDkH3EbWTYc?...
I never called anyone an idiot, of course. Just a technology entrepreneur excited about the possibilities of AI. I think it's a great boon for indies and new studios!
It's me making friends in the games industry, apparently!
Deleted a post that was going viral and bringing an undesirable amount of attention from anonymous accounts. But, I'm going to be honest, the toxic folks here have won. So much of the usage of the site is about avoiding their attention. I'll just use this site to get book recs going forward
