MONTRÉAL – Former environment minister Catherine McKenna says the leaders of Canada’s oil industry are figures close to American President Donald Trump who are “taking us for fools” and putting both the economy and environment at risk.
Canada named most positive leader on world stage
“Canada is seen as the No. 1 world influencer for the 10th year in a row.”

HE WILL DESTROY THE WORLD TO PREVENT THE REAL EPSTEIN FILES FROM BEING RELEASED. BUT WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE HE IS “INNOCENT?!”
Easy solution: Ban these gluttonous resource hogs.
If journalists had any integrity and courage, they would boycott the White House Correspondents Dinner. It should be as empty as a TPUSA event.
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.
WE Pay for
Effective 2025 federal tax rates paid by these corporations:
Alphabet: 8.01%
AT&T: 4.6%
Meta: 3.57%
General Motors: 3.09%
Amazon: 1.37%
Exxon Mobil: 1.31%
Disney: -1.57%
CVS Health: -3.88%
Income tax rate paid by the typical American: 14.5%
This is what a rigged system looks like.
Fact for today: There are still almost 200 coal power plants still operating in the US. There are less than 8 in Canada and none in the most industrial and populous province, Ontario. If companies really believe in reducing climate impacts, they can choose countries that produce cleaner energy.
What the actual fuck….
Why do they not acknowledge how incredibly ill and demented he is? He is not fit to govern.
Absolutely no defence. What they propose to do is despicable and definitively not democratic.
Unfit to govern!
The current FOI act allows the public to request government records — and has compelled the province to disclose documents revealing the Greenbelt land scandal, the Skills Development Fund controversy and others.
The changes would restrict access to those kinds of records.
Alberta’s #UCP government served notice in the legislature Thursday it intends to toss out the entire report of the 2025-26 Electoral Boundaries Commission.
This is unprecedented as far as electoral boundary commissions go, but not a complete surprise, writes @djclimenhaga.bsky.social. #abpoli
Alberta’s law abandons the foundational principles on which Canada’s health care system has been built, as enshrined in the Canada Health Act.

When Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega bought the Post office development in Vancouver, a loophole allowed him to avoid paying property transfer tax on the $1.2-billion purchase.

It is a profound irony when the nation under attack feels more empathy for the attacker's citizens than the attacking government itself.
France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.
Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars
The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.
Why aren't we doing this?
Disney's new CEO, whose pay package is worth nearly $45M, just announced 1,000 layoffs.
Reminder that Disney paid an effective federal income tax rate of ZERO in 2025 and aims to buy back $7B of its own stock in 2026.
This is what corporate greed looks like.
Mark Rufalo warns Congress against the Paramount-WBD merger:
"You don't have to watch 'Citizen Kane' or read '1984' to understand that the concentrated oligarchic control this merger represents is a threat to a free press, an informed populace & democracy itself."
