I’m old enough to remember Abu Ghraib and Fallujah. Not quite old enough to remember Iran Contra or the dirty wars. It’s always been a vile country, but no one has wanted to admit until now that many of its haters, themselves often terrible tyrants, were right all along.
This did not start with Trump. It started with Sandy Hook and 27 lives that were not important enough for common sense gun laws. It started with Citizens United and prioritization of corporate greed over work/life balance. The world watched the moral decline of the US and finally said enough.
