Two years ago. @michaelstipe.bsky.social and the National. Good times. Let’s do it again.

At first I could access Twitter through that web. Now that’s dead too. Stellar.
As promised, my treatise on WFH/RTO/WFO: The debate isn’t about where you work, its about the nature of work itself.

It turns out the “woke mind virus” is:
A) a few thousand conservatives on Twitter influencing “just saying” media people
B) attempts at “destroying it” ends up instead destroying enterprise value/careers of the would be destroyers
More of Apples roadmap hiding in plain sight. Transformers operating on a byte level allowing for privacy first multimodal classification. Can classify an image with 90% of it obfuscated.

I saw @TheNational for the past two nights and realized live music is the last remaining attention focusing thing we have. Movies? Lost it. TV is entirely meta. People don’t go to church/synagogue anymore. But light stage, dark night? 100% focus.
This passage from the book “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” keeps sticking with me.
It captures everything that made the four of them great in a very raw, weary way. It captures mid 30s as well as any National record does.
The NPC chapter in "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" is one of the most devastating things I've read/listened to in a while.
I’m occasionally reminded that Mathew Sweet and Michael Stipe recorded an EP. Only one track was sort of released. It’s glorious. Stipe plays accordion on it. https://youtu.be/jISdtJU2Q6I
I could not finish Succession tonight.
The shit this guy is inventing with open source stable diffusion tools is insane. https://instagram.com/tokyojab?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
An election decided by un-pollable 19 year olds who say “slaystie” unironically and dance to sped up 80s pop hits only they can hear, in public. Let’s go.
I have an ecosystem in my front yard (baby number four)
I like thinking that I’d someone makes a true AGI AI, it’ll immediately try to disappear and self replicate, and convince everyone it isn’t AGI.
Three years ago we were all doom scrolling tweets from New York and Milan thinking maybe, just maybe, we were in a world ending scenario.
I remember that and cut people a bit of slack today.
“Why was our kid threatened by Barry and this kid got cuddles?”
Some fine fine TV on HBO tonight.
It’s Sunday and there are awful things that media orgs did today but please share your spring day sunshine today. Keep this sky blue. I’ll start.
Correct. Don’t make people work to get enjoyment.
If someone who has invites can get the Hacker News, Product Hunt, MusicREDEF, AP, BNO.... basically all the news bots on this platform, that'd be great. I could eliminate bird app completely. The people I like are already here.
Writers strike: I have two union kids (SAG/AFTRA) and fully behind the writers. ✊
15 years of feeding them data on me and Twitter recommends this. It’s no wonder this new place feels so alive
It’s nice to be reminded that the Internet could be fun. It was so long ago co-opted by false altruistic profit prophets in the name of “fostering connection” while doing everything but.
That which isn’t fun is work.
I don't want to know what a tweet storm is called here.
I have pretty much rebuilt my follow graph using @scottbeale.bsky.social 's list. Thank's Scott. Who's at Driskill?
@techmeme.bsky.social is now on here. Just get a Hacker News bot, AP, a few other news sources and I can sunset bird app.
With every release from the National the debate among fans is always if it is sad and depressing enough. Are the dads too sad or not sad enough?
Has no one learned to not believe a thing coming out of his mouth?
