Yeah though its not like the banning of those particular drugs was from a rational scientific process to begin with. So I'm inclined to think the worst part of the process is how easy the ban was and how long it lasted.

Didn't work because he just took it down and apologized, but does show who Trump feels the need to placate. Aka, theocrat fascist morons.

Its that his last remaining fans are the Christian theocrats and this is an image they find offensive. So there was a push from many liberal Trump haters too to emphasize this is an effort to make the theocrats hate Trump too.

And one of my favorite parts is seeing all the families and kids that can safely use the street when we don't have cars on it to worry about! Of course can't do it on every street, but Peachtree is probably the ideal one given its density around it and relatively modest elevation changes.

Streets Alive is great proof of the demand for car-free routes through the heart of Atlanta. And we know this is something that can work on more than just one day as the less dense and less transit accessible Beltline gets consistent crowded usage while care free year round.

A Waymo has to have beaten that record years ago now. Who cares how long a bipedal robot can run? They don't build up lactic acid.

Argh! The suburbs are SO FUCKING WHITE! Going to a busy shopping center and being able to count non-white people on one hand is a hate crime

Shame to see you be so anti-intellectual on this topic. There is no debate among experts on this

"In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran."

The "strait of Iran" is open because Iran got the Lebanon ceasefire they demanded. Not 100% clear if tolls will be involved but it is on the Iranian route (likely due to the mine concerns). So I suppose the US got the "objective" of this war; to open a strait that was open before the war.

lol. lmao even.

A precedent for CHINA?! What chokepoint does China even control? If they want to charge shipping they already do it with tariffs because the shipping is heading to their ports!

Also get a load of the guy they're quoting here:

Courts really seem dedicated to upholding both the appearance of limits on the executive AND the carve outs that assume good faith on the executives' part (aka the national security exemptions).

And Trump is dedicated to showing everyone he won't uphold the facade of good faith.

Have periods of GDP decline caused Iran or other states to change policy? Mostly no and if yes only after years.

Are the objectives for policy change in Iran good for the world?
No, its just about helping Israel be more aggressive.

Are they good for the Iranian people?
No, its to promote the Shah.

two posts in the thread linked above from @peark.es

First post: "A coda: UMich has shown a much, much worse sentiment picture since COVID than Conference Board. The CC data still has a residual versus traditional hard data drivers (see above) but it's way smaller. UMich survey methodology changes (moving online) may have something to do with this."

Second post: "Good corrective, I had forgotten that Conference Board moved online earlier than UMich. I still think the difference between the two (Conf underperforming expected but still respectable historically vs UMich record low) suggests survey issues."

George's answer is a bit interesting because it implies that both are wrong in a different way: we broke the survey everyone uses. Possibly both are broken being online now but UMich definitely looks broke. That's neither vibes nor material conditions, just measuring junk data.

The kid's a lolcow who makes his money by not getting any better. Like most lolcows, he's both genuinely an asshole and a victim at the same time.

Maybe he'd chill out over time if he just realized its 2026 and its totally normal to be gay.

These folks are understanding the implications of what the US/Israel consider "targets". Indeed to make the analogy stronger, Israel bragged about killing Iranian nuclear scientists who were working on an internationally monitored civilian nuclear program and so less militarily relevant than Altman!

Same chart as OP but with a green line showing when sport betting was legalized in the US in 2018. Suicide risk does increase for most age groups after that line except 25-34 and 35-44.

Not real sure what this tells us about sports betting. Bad for everyone between 25-45 and good for everyone else?

Which is just because those pundits don't want to admit Trump ran bad campaigns (2024 was his best result and he still had under 50% of the popular vote), because it indicates 2 of 3 times Democrats ran WORSE.

Trump was never hard to beat, Democrats (and pundits) didn't understand electability.
