Close Encounters was very much of its time whilst Jaws increasingly resonates given the rise of populist politicians

For me, more generally my magic wand would be to make people understand how much of a financial superpower delayed gratification is. A £ saved in your 20s is worth £10 in your 60s.

That got me. They look to be identical settings so all about show and not function.

Saying Trump thought it depicted him as a doctor is tacit admission that he believes Trump to be in severe cognitive decline.

Worth noting that Farage paid 5p a share for something that was backed by less than 2p a share in assets. He's more a mark than the fraudster. Even now his shares are fundamentally worth less than what he paid for them. On paper he's made money but he can't cash it in.

Who are you backing to replace him and why do you think she/he will be an improvement?

Stack BTC - an opportunity to pay 10p per share for assets worth less than 5p. Perfect logic for Reform voters.

Weird how Tory party vetting didn't uncover this. Either they are incompetent or did know of it and decided it was OK.

Trump has always been a bit thick.

Yeah, but we re-branded it as the "Glorious Revolution" and claimed it as a victory!

Are there any UK flagged vessels trapped that could try running Trump's blockade?

Agree re a China flagged vessel. But, equally, what will he do if a French etc ship attempts to navigate the strait?

I would like to see a study comparing how well people feel about their own prospects and how many influencer posts they are exposed to.

The key issue for me is that if Magyar should win, will the EU act to change its laws to prevent another Orban? If not then it is probably doomed to fail.

The EU should move more to qualified majority voting and abolishing the veto power except in very limited circumstances. But doing so requires unanimous approval from the member states. See the problem?

Much to my shame as Yorkshireman I hadn't heard of either. No excuse other than my parents moving away when I was 9 mths old and life never taking me back other than for visits. But fascinated to see that they are both not just Northern but both Yorkshire!

Trump? (except that would be billion, not million)

He's a bit thick, isn't he?

Maybe he's just a bit thick?

They are showing an old episode instead so CRUK will still get exposure. Hopefully they will add in the new true life story. Still sucks for the other contestants who generously gave up their time.

Since Trump claims that the Iranians have no military capability left, I assume he will be visting Tehran tomorrow. No? Why Not? Surely President Bone-Spurs isn't an abject coward??

The only response to such willful stupidity is to block and move on.

With those 6 new states, the Dems would control the Senate...

I also recommend watching this.

Ignore the fact he's Labour and they're failing. Listen to the man.

Honestly, I found myself wishing he could be PM by 3pm tomorrow.

UK, etc aren't going to "open" the strait whilst US are bombing Iran. But if that stops & Iran chooses to violate Omani territorial waters then I can see a strong international response.

100% with you on his enrichment. But I expect a lot of his family's wealth is quite illusory in nature and leveraged on debt / purchased at high prices (cf their bitcoin purchases). Falling markets can expose such positions very quickly.

Feel for me, I'm mostly buying 50th anniversary box sets these days!

Hence why Trump cannot win this war. There is no scenario where further escalation doesn't crash the markets. It's all about how cheaply Trump can extricate himself. But that's something he is inherently bad at given his zero sum view of the world so we'll probably see a catastrophic escalation.

Presumably he's getting a 10c cut on every note printed.
