I have started a new podcast! 🎙️

In this series, I’ll be interviewing with guests from all over the world about expat life, high-net-worth investing, business, and entrepreneurship.

I also created an expat insurance comparison website for expats to compare different plans hassle-free.

Yes, some might go behind my back, but I trust my expertise will help enough clients to make it worthwhile.

Do you feel more comfortable working with someone who’s totally transparent?

It’s about providing objective answers to technical questions, something he, as an independent third party, can do better than the bank.

I believe in transparency, which is why I created an FAQ page to provide the information clients need before reaching out.

But then I asked him how he could expect any of my clients to go ahead without knowing the names of the lenders in question?

A trusted advisor’s value goes beyond just transactions.

But then I realized the offers didn’t include the name of the bank or lender.

When I asked why, he said my clients and I might go to the bank directly.

I don’t deny that some sleazy people will try to get things for free and then execute themselves.

Last year, a few clients asked me to find providers where they could borrow against their portfolio assets.

For example, if they had $1 million in their investment accounts, they could get a loan of $600,000-$700,000.

His story shows that it’s not about how much you make, but how you manage your money.

You too can achieve similar success by investing early and taking advantage of the power of compounding.

Reach out to me if you need help with investing as an expat or HNWI.

Through hard work, Johnson moved up to manager and executive at UPS.

But the real wealth came from his smart investments in the company.

By the time he retired, he had accumulated a $70 million fortune from early stock investments and the power of compound growth.

UPS, known for its generous employee benefits, offered stock options to its workers, but most people didn’t take full advantage of them.

Theodore, however, saw them as a chance to build wealth. He invested in UPS stock early, a decision that would pay off big time.

Interactive Brokers offers low fees but if you're new to investing, it might not be the easiest platform to start with.

It's best suited for those who are comfortable managing their own portfolios.

But China has a much bigger market and greater demand for expats. Naturally, there are more job opportunities too.

In Korea, expat jobs are limited to a few professions - embassy work, teaching, the US Army, owning a business, remote work, or high-level roles.

China used to be cheap, but not anymore, especially in bigger cities.

Korea can be cheaper now - much cheaper if you take advantage of the tax benefits mentioned earlier.

There are also fewer restrictions on moving money out of the country, unlike in China.

Younger Koreans are more open.

From a financial point of view, Korea doesn’t tax overseas income for the first five years you live there, just like Japan.

Unless you are American or from another country which taxes you based on citizenship, you can save a lot on taxes.

Is China more expat-friendly than Korea?

When I first visited China in 2007, and Korea in 2010, my impressions were that China was more welcoming.

Even when I first lived in China in 2011, my views were the same. But things have now changed. China is now more nationalistic.

Wealthy Chinese are increasingly shifting their money to Singapore.

With growing concerns about keeping their wealth on the mainland, many see Singapore as a safer, more stable option.

China has a booming economy, but its passport is one of the weakest among major global powers.

It ranks 60th in the Henley Passport Index.

Getting money out of China is difficult too due to its strict capital controls.

Even in Budapest, the capital, the cost of living remains lower than cities like Paris, London, or Berlin.

Your pensions or savings can stretch further here, especially if you are retiring with income from a stronger currency.

Is Hungary a good place to retire?

Hungary is a small country, and is one of the more affordable countries in Europe.

Housing, food, and services are generally much cheaper than in Western European countries.

Everyone who can exit the UK is leaving.

Interesting how the millionaire migration from places like Canada and the UK is gaining media attention.

Chris Williamson recently covered this growing trend in his podcast with Konstantin Kisin.

A car is, for most people, the most expensive depreciating item.

Buy a cheap car until you have assets above a certain threshold.

That extra $50,000 you’d spend on a fancier ride could end up turning into $1 million or $2 million by the time you retire.
