“By consistently violating ceasefires, starting illegal wars, and flouting international law, Israel has shown it is the main obstacle to peace. The ceasefire will last if the U.S. finally decides to stop its ally from wreaking havoc on the region.”

“Iran’s strategy to pressure Trump was to cause a global economic crisis and raise the price of gas to $6-$7 in America. So what Trump is doing right now" by blockading the Strait of Hormuz "is doubling down on the Iranian strategy to defeat Donald Trump,” @harrisonmann.bsky.social told @cnn.com.

"Detaining a journalist for 6 weeks without charge and with limited access to legal counsel for reporting should alarm everyone who cares about freedom of the press," said DAWN's @omidmemarian.bsky.social. "Kuwait's actions undermine basic due process and send a chilling signal to journalists."
"Just as the Trump administration zealously campaigned for the release of unlawfully detained Americans across the globe, they should designate Ahmed Shihab-Eldin as wrongfully detained under U.S. law and use all their leverage to press Kuwait to release Ahmed Shihab-Eldin," said DAWN's Raed Jarrar.
Six weeks in prison for sharing publicly available footage of a war is censorship, not national security," said Omar Shakir, DAWN's executive director. "Kuwait should immediately and unconditionally release Ahmed Shihab-Eldin."
In response to the six-week detention of Kuwait-American journalist of Palestinian descent Ahmed Shihab-Eldin in Kuwait without charges, DAWN issues the following statement:

"This is an illegal war. It was a war that did not meet the basic standards of international law ... It's illegal under U.S. law and we've continued to see mounting evidence of war crimes ... The U.S. has no clear objectives. Their objectives are not the Israeli objectives," said DAWN's Omar Shakir.
"State repression, censorship, polarization. This is all coming back with the US/Israeli war on Iran...I worry that everything that we're going through right now is going to be normalized. It's going to be entrenched."

“Trump's threat to bomb Iranian civilian power plants and bridges demonstrates the US government's disregard for international law, giving other nations the green light to destroy civilian infrastructure without restraint.”
