The @peripheralmss.bsky.social project had its first delivery of mss from Saint Meinrad Archabbey as part of our @nehgov.bsky.social HCRR grant. I'll leave it to @lizhebbard.bsky.social & @sarahloleet.bsky.social to provide a more substantive assessment, but ahhhhhh look at some of these beauties.
"Felices sancte apostole" in F-Pn Latin 12044, an early 12th century antiphoner from St Maur-des-Fossés. The notes on Felices are C-DE-E, where the fragment has D-CD-D.
also "Felices sancte", from F-Pn NAL 1535, an early 13th century antiphoner from Sens. The melody starts C-DE-E and is, but for a few notes, the same as that from St Maur des Fossés.
4. so far I've only found two other manuscripts with this "Felices sancte" antiphon, but their melodies are different from this one! very similar in shape though, as if it got transmuted through transposition in different traditions.

the ending of the same chant. above the letters SEUOUAE (indicating the end of the psalm, "seculorum amen" are both some small pitches, partially erased, in the style of the rest of the page, and some others in a later style, basically rectangular. (One set is for a Tone 2 psalm, the other is Tone 1).
3. somebody has gone and corrected the psalm tone, reinterpreting what mode they think the antiphon is in; and
Close up the word "Felices" from a chant fragment. One staff line is red, indicating the pitch F; another two lines below is in green; and between them is a line seemingly labelled with a capital D.

A lovely volume!! Saint Meinrad's has such a fantastic collection of medieval manuscripts. So happy to have them as a partner in our project for both our first and second round!
