Sword in the Stone, Zelda, and the more distantly inspired Dragon Quest are my favorites. Still need to watch the Green Knight.
The only other that comes to mind for me is Berserk which is a deconstruction of Arthurian themes. But it’s dark fantasy and grim as hell. Like Requiem for a Dream grim.

There were ones at navy pier in Chicago and another in downtown Indianapolis. Got to meet Jordan Weisman when I moved out here and I had some Battletech questions. Really nothing like it.

Leave it to me to be a couple/few days late for #PortfolioDay, but hey! Here's my brand new portfolio site, my biggest overhaul in probably a decade or more.

Same. A gang of rooks did something to me today that I can only describe as "cartoon hijinks."
One ran by, begged my crew not to kill him, and we were like "we're cool, have a good one." Then after we ran past, he and a group of like 5 of them fell on us like raptors, laughing.

So hey! In more concrete terms: I got hit by the Epic layoff yesterday.
- Looking for Senior/Principal/Lead-ish roles around Level Design, Technical Design, Systems Design, etc.
- Strong preference for US/Seattle/Remote
Site is a little rough from the last time around, but: andrew-weldon.design
We’ve heard your feedback that having Ranked and Cryo Archive overlap can make it difficult to decide where to spend your time and hard-earned loot. Based on that, we’re updating their schedules so each has a clear, focused window.

I've said it before and I'll say it again but as long as I'm working on this game I will endeavor to make it as weird as possible
Unfortunately I was one of the 1000 folks let go of by Epic Games this morning. As always I stand in solidarity with the workers and hope we all can land on our feet.
Remember, this is not a reflection on you, your work, or your value as a person. Reach out if you want to chat or have job for me!
dammit
I'm so sorry Robert.

✨ new video ✨
with marathon, bungie has taken its best-in-class gunplay and a frankly unbelievable visual identity and used them to lure players into a subtle shift in the way an extraction shooter can be played: one where extracting gear isn't even the point.
my thoughts: youtu.be/RUtvq6BFThI
I am going to be so insufferable next year when I try to get you all to nominate Marathon for the Hugo
I love that the language the @marathonthegame.bungie.net runners I play with have adopted is:
It's not *your* loot.
It's just your turn with it!
May the next runner also enjoy it.
My Marathon journey:
Why am I bothering? I suck at competitive multiplayer games.
Okay, but this lore rocks
Okay, but this is fun with skilled friends
Okay, but Rook is fun for scavenging
Okay, but solo is sick in general
Okay, but THIS LORE ROCKS
Okay, all hail the dead gods of silk and plastics
pulled off the thief claymore after they wiped out my team.
Some of my favorite Marathon moments so far.
Watching 5+ rooks crest the hill by North Relay to knock my teammates forcing a hasty retreat.
Getting downed because I was greedy only to have my two boys down the aggressors and rescue their dad.
Thwarting a Thief's attempt to steal my solo key loot.
I’m pretty sure the reason that the Marathon community seems normal and fun so far is that it is an unc game. It’s a millennial game. It’s coworker game (complimentary) because the people who play it have jobs.
