Wouldn't it be great if data centres built in Scotland were forced to maximally use renewable energy, which we produce to a great extent? This should be part of govs various "pro innovation" outreaches click.actionnetwork.org/ss/c/u001.Xa...

In the quest of finding the worst customer service in different airlines (I have only flown 27 international flights in the last two months and a half), I think that @vivaaerobus.bsky.social wins the first spot...rude and not knowing their own rules at Mexico Juarez airport
The last time I came to Doha, I used the @qatarwings.bsky.social Al Safwa lounge. Now they have a cheaply looking, not very well provided lounge exclusive for the alliance members. No more reason to fly Qatar Airways, as the onboard service is good but not excellent (and the food simply was bad)
Any similarity with the grandiose announcement of a "liberation day" is pure coincidence...

Back in the US, all the drivers of the Ubers I took, all migrants, supported Trump and repeated the false statements said by the regime puppets...I arrived in UK, my driver fully agrees that we should join the EU #somehope
Just back from Berkeley, where I was part of the Inaugural Larsen Justice Conference on "Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology in the Administration of Justice"

A somehow balanced report about a nomination seemingly out of balance. Energy production and policies are a bit more complex than what using superlatives allow. Eg. "Drill, baby, drill" and the profits of those who fund you go down as fast as the CO2 go up #Energy
So, there it goes the relationship between AI and GDPR (and not about training). The adds for products with which you never interacted nor searched ever that address you by your name, get your personal data from...(?) #AImarketing #AIethics #AIGDPR
After a paradoxically challenging and rewarding year, here’s to stepping into the new year with resilience, clarity, and the courage to embrace both the expected and the unexpected.
Wishing you all a fulfilling and meaningful 2025.
It also applies to Reform UK's Nativity scene...
It is time we start demanding academic integrity from the teachers, so they focus on developing innovative assessments that evaluate how students can use AI to support and enhance their knowledge and skills.
A further prove that having money has nothing to do with being intelligent (and clearly with having a moral compass at all). What comes next for them, a band in the arm? www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

A short take on COP29. There is still a lot to do (not likely to happen with the current governance system) www.qmul.ac.uk/gpi/news-and...
Not Skynet moment yet...(although the problem is in the humans we have in power too) #AI #Armagedon #Skynet

The problem with flying too often is how easily annoyed one gets with fellow (inexperienced) passengers' lack of in-flight etiquette. Instead of the unnecessary (and more and more histrionic) safety videos, there should be one about how to behave on #gratuitousrant
I bet that someone has the number, but what is the global energy consumption created by public spaces temperature dissonance? Vg, very cold shopping centres, etc, in very hot places, and very warm airports (COPs venues) in cold countries. Nobody likes to be sweating in a mall, but 18°C is not needed
I still haven't seen the posts about "at COPs they talk about #ClimateChange but there are dozens of thousands flying around the world to get there"...it wouldn't matter if hundred thousand fly over and over, the problem is that not much is achieved! #COP29 #UNFCCC
One of the issues of petrol-states that promote car ownership is that their cities are always a big and continuous traffic jam #Baku
The hype with cheating needs to be translated into: AI allows my students to cheat in my 20 years old assessment...adapting them to AI (in my modules using AI is compulsory) increases the quality of the outputs and the students' learning and attributes
The climate change governance should include COPs logistics and limit warming at them...it's near 30°C inside the Baku Stadium! It would be cheaper and more environmentally friendly to give coats to everyone instead of replicating a tropical temperature (AI could tell who needs one) #COP29
The UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) Presidency’s draft decision text on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) was published earlier today, and it looks strange how so many well educated people from so many countries fail to understand the meaning of Quantified: the text has no number #COP29
Just finished my presentation at COP29, explaining how AI can help with the increasing infatile reactions of some countries' leaders to Climate Change, but allowing multi-stakeholders governance models #AI4ClimateAction
Today at #COP29 Azerbaijan, as part of QMUL led side event, will be discussing Socio-economic, environmental, and technological aspects of climate change-fuelled land conflicts, with LCW (India), CSDevNet (Nigeria), PACJA (Burkina Faso) and chaired by Solange Bandiaky-Badji, RRI (USA)
This COP seems a bit less of a fun fair compared to previous one/s, and there is some sense of more serious work, probably due to the anticipation created by COP30, next year in Brazil..not a good time to become irrelevant in a very relevant discussion #COP29 #Argentina
www.lanacion.com.ar/opinion/el-p...
A good analysis of how ridiculous, infantile and against Argentine interests is that country's decision to leave COP29. Not surprisingly, @lanacion.bsky.social buried the analysis almost instantly. A F1 pilot affair is more important for this "serious" newspaper
Around in Baku? Join us for our side event on Socio-economic, Environmental, and Technological Aspects of Climate Change-Driven Land Conflicts, on 20 November at 8 PM IST (18.30 local time) in Side Event room 1 of #COP29.
