Bought this splendid book🌳🌳 from the lovely new Brown Onion Books in Ashbourne. Whether local or visiting, do go in, browse & buy! Indie shops are the backbone of thriving market towns, so spend here in person and not online whenever you can. They’ll take your book orders too 📚

The brightest scarlet Spindle berries on twigs covered in lichen against a Cerulean blue Autumn sky.

One of our smallest, but most beautiful, native trees, the Spindle (Euonymus europaeus) can be an indicator of ancient woodland. We included two in our refurbishment of Shuttleworth Park and they are thriving. #Bermondsey #NativeTrees @thestreettree.bsky.social @lb-southwark.bsky.social

Take a stroll down Grange Walk, wait for the traffic to clear and listen to the buzz. The Japanese pagoda trees (Styphnolobium japonica) are in flower and covered in honey bees. Resilient to climate change, it's a beautiful and much underrated street tree. #Bermondsey @thestreettree.bsky.social

Bandstand and great-canopied London plane trees in a park setting on a hot day in Southwark Park, Bermondsey.

If the heat is getting to you, make your way to Bermondsey's Southwark Park and take a seat under its famous London planes. Instant air-conditioning (and a lot cheaper and greener!) #thicktrunktuesday @lb-southwark.bsky.social @thestreettree.bsky.social
