For those who have been asking, 'Night Call' is now finally available on vinyl. It's an extremely limited edition of just 20 copies and can be shipped all across the world.

I'm delighted to announce that Sky Patterns is performing at Midsummer Middlewich 2026 around the summer solstice weekend.
Big thanks to @jamesontheradio.bsky.social at Black Cat Radio for playing Sky Patterns' latest single 'Fireflies' on his show on Tuesday evening.
To listen, it's on at around the 1hr 35m mark

It's so difficult to choose, as they're all so good ๐
From the songs I heard at the gig, it sounds closer to Ocean by Ocean than Ghost Alive, that latter album felt very personal and reflective and quite an anomaly in their catalogue. They're definitely enjoying performing together again, and their setlist reflects that.
Their very recent gig in Manchester was superb, and they played several songs from the new album, all of which sound really good. I'm really excited for it too.
The podcast interview that I recently did with Surprise Cast is now live. It's up across a number of places, but you can hear it here.
Hear me discuss songwriting, MBV, Gene Loves Jezebel, the new album 'Night Call' plus LOTS more.
Many Thanks to Dubya

Available to stream from Monday. This is a hugely enjoyable interview that I did with Surprise Cast.
I'll post a link once it's live!
Hi James, my new single 'Fireflies' was released on Friday (www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1X_...). DM me if you'd like a high-quality download to play on your show. Your support is much appreciated.

'Fireflies' is the new single from Sky Patterns, released today. A song that describes the dichotomy of speaking out versus remaining silently complicit.
Also included is the new song 'It's Too Late Now' plus an instrumental version of 'Fireflies'

It was great to hear your songs last night. Will hopefully see you again soon.
Great night at the Kings Lock open mic with @skypatterns.bsky.social
The new single from Sky Patterns is out on Friday.
'Fireflies' is a commentary on the world in which we live versus the world that we are led to believe in.
The dichotomy of whether to speak out against oppression, or instead remain silent and complicit.

D'oh! - that should have said @surprisecast.bsky.social - not @surprisedface.bsky.social! Sorry to the latter, who's likely scratching his head and wondering "What chat?!" ๐
I was recently interviewed by @surprisedface.bsky.social about the new album 'Night Call', songwriting, recording, music-related anecdotes, and numerous other interesting things. Many Thanks to Dubya for a great chat!
The podcast is released on March 18th. I'll post a link closer to the time.
Levitation recorded just two albums. Both are excellent, but definitely listen to the debut 'Need For Not': open.spotify.com/album/2Y1mBv...
I'd also encourage you to read this article about them, it's absolutely fascinating: thequietus.com/interviews/l...
It's usually always these five - though Dr. Phibes & The House Of Wax Equations, Puressence, 'Script' by The Chameleons will feature in the top ten.
1. The Chameleons - WDAMB
2. Levitation - Need For Not
3. Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
4. Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
5. Throwing Muses - House Tornado
It very much is indeed! The lower half of my Top Twenty often moves about, but my top five or so has stoically remained unchanged for many years.
It's always a thrill to see this album pop up on my timeline, Nathan. Such a powerhouse of a record.
Thanks so much, Martin. It was a brilliant night and the love in the room was really touching. I really appreciate you coming down.
Wow! The reception at tonight's gig has been nothing short of incredible. Here's a short clip of 'The Ill Wind', performed acoustically.
Tonight! If you're in the Cheshire area, come along. I'll be performing the 'Night Call' album plus songs from 'Answers' and also a few brand new ones.
Wow, very well done, Sir. Probably like you, I run my own music out to a lengthy list of streaming sites, many of which I don't know because they don't operate in the UK. One of my songs was magically streamed 300,000 times in Canada, so I'm now looking forward to an invitation to Vancouver ๐
I agree - and the really interesting part is that there doesn't seem to be an underlying reason, because Spotify and other usual 'go-to' sites are banned over there. Artists like Swim Deep and The KVB aren't exactly well known by the masses over here, so what's happening?
What an amazing article. I hadn't realised that this was even a thing. It used to be the case with Japan that certain artists were treated like royalty over there, but I hadn't realised that this has translated over to China. Amazing!
Huge thanks to James for playing 'Night Call' on his New & Alternative Music show on Black Cat Radio ๐ป
Incredible performers - and a wonderful live act too. In a recent interview, Brendan suggested that a new DCD is happening, though he isn't sure as to when.
