I'm making a (muslin) thing! So excited to have survived the fitting, welt pockets, lapels and collar. This is Jasika from Closet Core patterns. Planning to make lightweight twill and wool versions.

<inside head while watching just about anything on TV> what the hell is going on with that suit?

I bring one of these kits with me when I'm at protests (even when I'm not an acting medic) and when we camp. They're tiny, plenty of room to throw one in your backpack along with lunch and water.

I like this synopsis. Yep. We all we got, we all we need.

Thanks to everyone who came out for No Kings. You had me in real tears of joy in Atlanta. I watched you chase the Proud Boys off site and help each other when the crowd got packed. Y'all will change the world.

A sad looking dog stares at the camera.

Spouse and self have decided to write a book entitled "101 places that your dog will hate," based on our camping adventures with the long-suffering Angus. Chapter 1 is our current location, Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia, close to 3" of rain today and wind gusts in the low 40 mph range.

My Acworth colleagues! I'm proud to have been a partner to a veteran (#gonavy) for over 40 years, and hate the way vets have faced decreasing support for years, and now it's getting even worse.

Republican Bill Would Limit Judges’ Contempt Power

I did not know this, even though I'm paying attention. This bill contains much more than slashed funding. It gives the president a free pass on ignoring judges' orders.

The worse things get in the news, the better my garden looks.

Listening to @warnock.senate.gov at his Atlanta Town Hall this afternoon, and appreciating his service.

It's almost sewing season (too hot to go out) where I live - despite the many humbling moments/hours, it's always a good time.

This needs to be said louder and more often until it's understood.

Cape Hatteras, NC this morning. Don't let the bad guys take your capacity for joy.

Thanks for pointing me to this. Time to plan a DC visit.

Agree that it's apples and oranges. If you love to sew, sew what excites you! But I can definitely see why many more people create quilts than garments.

This was my experience. I began quilting 20 or so years ago. I eventually bored of it and my interest in garment sewing grew; garment sewing is more complex, less satisfying for beginners, and generally more expensive. None of the quilters I used to hang out with moved into garment making.

It has been a hell of a day, including the gutting of a CDC program for sickle cell disease, which has been my life's work for almost 20 years. Sen. Booker's actions are the only thing saving the day for me, and more importantly trying to save lives. Thank you so much @booker.senate.gov

I converted to mostly using clips recently. Much less poking myself (and leaving blood stains on my work) and accidentally stepping on pins, and less fabric distortion and pinholes. win/win.

A great find. Totally worth taking it to a repair shop, I think. My first machine was also an old used Bernina and it also seized after about a month - the repair bill was minimal and I still have and use the machine 25 years later!

So true. I tell people who want me to "whip something up" for them that I can point them to lots of learning resources - no takers so far.

Is applying for a job an act of desperation? Networking? Offering a business card? That's just silly. I recently updated my profile to be OtW and have gotten some great connections.

Spent the day cutting muslin/toile pattern pieces for the Jasika blazer. It's so unexciting to make a muslin! But so worth it for the final fit.

Opinion | There Is No Going Back (Gift Article) The president’s opponents, whoever they are, cannot expect a return to the Constitution as it was.

This must be read. By every person who cares about the hijacking of this nation. By every Democrat in Congress. @democrats-judiciary.house.gov

I am shocked by how little press there is. An unelected, un-confirmed, rando has taken over the money system of the United States. We've been hacked at the deepest level, and crickets.
