If you didn’t have enough reasons to leave the Metaverse already, Meta has come up with a new one!
Well, if no one else, at least the Guardian seems to have heard my question. And although a neighbor and not a close relative, a lot of what is argued in this article makes sense.

The artisanal ice cream vendor confided in me that the specialty ice vegan cream with “puppy seeds” I was eating, had been optimized by AI. I doubt he’s on the road to become a star chef.
“When misogyny-related stories are covered, men’s perspectives and opinions dominate. The research found that 1.5 men are quoted for every one woman in stories about misogyny – a gap that is growing.”
“It is shocking, particularly considering the scale of the problem and the ways in which violence against women and misogyny have been weaponised by authoritarian actors as part of the rollback of rights,” said Prof Julie Posetti …
What to do? An otherwise friendly dog owner and chiropractor in my neighborhood turns out to be an anti-trans, conspiracy-believing MAGA-supporter. He always compliments me on our urban gardening. I want to keep a respectful distance, while not antagonizing him. Strategy tips?
As voters, we should imprint it more strongly and permanently on our representatives that it’s our interests they are chosen to manage and protect, not those of big tech or large corporations that harm us, our health, or our environment.

Just like the war in Iran is turning people away from oil to EV, solar, heat pumps and wind farms, it might equally accelerate the search for sustainable forms of fertilizer, something that is wildly overdue and could save our soil, not to mention divert famines.

Gašper Beguš, a linguist at University of California, Berkeley who led the new paper, said that this level of complexity in sperm whale speech was beyond anything he had studied in other creatures, such as parrots and elephants, and highlights the parallels between our lives and those of the whales.
Thanks! However, the one on the left does have a plastic base, which needed tape to secure it. Maybe I should have thrown it away, but now it may work another year or two.
Came home late & caught the unhoused 👩🏾🦳 bedding down in our entranceway. As I was going in, I ask if she’d like a tea. She says, Tea? Yes, please. I ask, green or black? Green, she says. Five minutes later I bring her tea and some chocolate cake. Thanks, she says and we shake hands. Goodnight, I say.
Right on.
I said ought to be, not will be :) Sadly, no time for so many posts. Here’s an article of some of the younger generations of photographers from Hungary: www.huckmag.com/article/meet...
This ought to be a very long thread, but let me highlight first Gabor Szilasi, whom I have met, and who sadly died a few days ago, before the regime change he would have welcomed, at the age of 98. Caring, kind and funny, he was one of the many Hungarians who lived in exile since the Cold War.
Alive or dead? There are so many.
Gratulálok, Magyarország, megcsináltad!
Red currants are native to this part of the world. These wild shrubs grow in dense masses in a local woodland, providing shelter for birds, nectar for insects, and later food for wildlife in the form of tiny berries that lack the sweetness of the cultivated varieties grown for human consumption. 💚
If one could win medals for sleeping, my dog would win ‘em all, easily.
Fellas, give some likes in support of @heart4ukraine.bsky.social! Their volunteers just brought another van full of donations to Ukraine last week! Way to go frens 🫡 💙💛
The weather has been sensational but I think the new cocopeat&sand soil mixture is part of the reason why I’m already seeing green, that most hopeful of colors, only three days after sowing. 💚🌻
The maker was obviously delighted that the cut fruit shows an afterimage of the flower it once was.
People / accounts posting AI slop without pointing its a fake ass photo will receive an instant block.
It ought to be. It’s by Caruso in a Loro Piana wool fabric 🤩.
“Royal-blue napped wool single-breasted 3-button knee-length overcoat with notch lapels, raglan sleeves (with single-button strap cuffs), slanted welted hand pockets, and single vent” could be found. On Vinted. But $$$.
The indoor nursery season has also begun. A time of impatience, anxiousness, hope, inevitable disappointments and with any luck, a summer full of joyous color for the neighborhood.
Happy Easter weekend from our urban garden, which is showing off its spring colors in full glory.
