The first and last time I remember that as a child it was Madeline (1998) starring Frances McDormand. Hell yeah!

You ever just have a playlist rolling and subconsciously just start singing the Weird Al version of a song?
So sorry for your loss but congrats on an exceptional backup plan
Waffled between grading essays, watching hockey, and wondering if WWIII was gonna implode tonight. This shit has become normal Tuesday fare and I’m both floored by that feeling and also numb to it. Does that make any sense? Is that odd? Being a millennial truly is trash like that I suppose.
You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
23 people could stop this genocidal war criminal. That’s it. 23.
20 Republican senators and 3 republican reps in the house and he’d be out of politics forever. But they won’t.
They’re addicted to power. A drug so strong they’d rather see a civilization die than give it up.
We are watching a dangerous and unfit President drag this country toward catastrophe — and Republicans refuse to act.
Invoke the 25th Amendment. Do your fucking job.
I think it's bad for the President to threaten to annihilate an entire culture and i do not think you are being alarmist if you take his threats seriously and literally.
An image of a Florida college campus. In white text it reads “Florida band’s introductory sociology from university core curriculum in sweeping statewide vote”
This pisses me off on a professional and personal level like what kinda glue is this state huffing ??
Perhaps my most milquetoast take of the year so far is that I genuinely like my Allbirds shoes. They’re comfy and stand up to what I need out of a shoe. Now as for the company, read the news, something about reaping what you sow etc. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No Kings March Twin Cities Saturday March 28th, 12pm, MN state capitol
Saint Paul is set to welcome tens of thousands for the No Kings march.
MNRD stands alongside our brave community, as we could not exist without our amazing and supportive community.
Saturday evening we will be hosting our home team championship bout, and hope you will join us after the march.
A graph showing the number of ICE detainees flown out of MSP by day between Nov 10 2025 and Mar 23 2026. There's a gradual increase from occasional 20 people per day at the beginningn, slowly increasing to a few of 45 people per day around January 1, before a quick increase peaking in early January, and slowing down towards the end of February, where sporadic days start appearing with a handful to 25 people some days.
ICE detentions without sufficient probable cause or due process continue in Minnesota.
ICE Air flights are still operating at MSP. On March 10, they decreased to twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Volunteer observers, coordinated by MN50501, remain committed to observing every flight.
🧵 Recap
POV nothing is an emergency at 10:30 pm your email can wait until the morning.
A screenshot of ōura ring stats from 0900 to 2100. The range of data displays mostly engaged and relaxed with points in restored.
May every weekend find me like this tbh
A screenshot of tinker cad in Mac. An orange cylinder is center field.
Cool shit du jour, I’m learning/doing very rudimentary CAD and 3D printing stuff to make lil prototype skate parts. Today it’s a pivot cup for a hard-to-find plate.
Had a deeply normal Saturday and now I’m feeling like … woah, life could be like this? 👀
Who asked me at #4C26 if I wanted to start a writing group? Who was that? Because yes. But I forgot who this was.
Hey academia, we gotta stop taking ideas from other people in the year of our Lord 2026. If that which we call plagiarism would get you 86'd in grad school, what makes it okay to do now that we're on the other side? At LEAST cite the people you're in conversation with. It takes ~1min to do.
The most important part of this day was when the living room roomba escaped and clashed with the kitchen roomba. “Battle bots,” I yelled to myself. (I am 12)
Not everyone needs to, nor wants to, use LLMs in academic research, and Taylorizing the scholarly enterprise does nothing positive for the pursuit of a better understanding of society and the world.
A screenshot from the movie The Princess Diaries. It says “no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” A commenter says “this is the line that has gotten me through life.”
I get it.
I feel like we should be talking about this a lot more, Saint Paul.
But anyways phew ok I’m back on here and I hope to be more social ok bye
And this is just me being really rather positive about 1) work stuff, and 2) I forgot a lot of stuff too. I’d be remiss to say this hasn’t been a very hard year in many ways. But hey, my metro is under siege. My job is hard. Imminent WWIII. Whatya do.
(God knows a pig hates someone who is joyful and a threat to the system, both in theory and practice, phew)
I think the thing about this past year is that I've learned to settle into a place of being weird (positive), and also much more myself. Part of that is bc the city I live in currently is occupied by goons and there is a necessity to be authentic and bold in the face of fascism, among other things.
I am also not counting the egregiously sad stuff like having to put down my dog in September and some other things. We're skipping that for a moment since I'm on that post conference high rn. (I do miss my Waylon baby, even though he was naughty)
February: Wrapped up an encyclopedia entry (??!!) and the best panel C's has ever seen (iykyk)
And now we're in March!
and this is all on top of teaching 12 credits and trying to keep two animals alive and be married and live in a war zone. Shit is wild in this economy wouldn't you say!
November: I think we started building a cardboard Edmund Fitzgerald in my garage (??)
December: invited to an edited collection and asked an idol of mine to join me, she said yes (?!!?)
January: returned to skating / stepped back from coaching. Pitched to a conference w/ an old pal, got in (\._./)
