On the left: an aged Russian blue named Luna, aka Grandma, aka Kitten Face, aka Her Highness. She is lapping a tiny bit of milk from an eggshell cereal bowl while standing on a redwood dining table like she owns it (I gave up, so sue me, I clean it before company and like the cats better than people anyway. 🤣) On the right: a youthful dilute tortoiseshell named Lavender, not that she recognizes that name because she is always called Mei-Mei, aka Monster, aka Terrorist, aka Mistress. She manages to look at once judgmental and bereft, realizing she will not get milk today because really cats aren’t supposed to have it. They are united in their disdain for diabetes-friendly dining.

The one on the left has had the remnants of my cereal since she was born. The one on the right doesn’t understand why grandma gets the goods. This isn’t going to be happening anymore, though, because we just found out grandma has diabetes. :( Insulin shots for my cat.
