Man I must be doing it wrong. I like to get games, learn the rules, never get them played, then forget said rules.

"Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional...
So I've been thinking. Once upon a time I used to do daily musings on social media. A (hopefully) thought provoking thought for the day.
I was considering maybe reviving it. Except doing a tarot card of the maybe-not-every-day. A little something to help guide energies.
Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage. A woman answers the door. We have come for the child, says the hooded figure So soon? she asks It is time, says the hooded figure. The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card! What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading! For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman, the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them. Do not cry mother. I am a writer now.

The black queen bee is completely circled.
White moves their ant to the black queen's 5 o'clock. Black is forced to jump their grasshopper away towards the white queen. The top white beetle moves down, but is safe from the pillbug for 1 turn. Black's nice is irrelevant. White moves the final beetle down for the win.
If relevant, the upper white beetle is covering a mosquito. The other beetle was covering my own pillbug.
A complex game of Hive in which nearly all Black's pieces have been played. The board is a jumble of pieces from both players.
Good morning board game Bluesky! I'm about to go to bed as I'm many timezones off and on vacation so let me leave you with this little puzzle.
White wins in 3 moves. Can you play the next 3 turns?
When I wake up I'll post the answer.
Going live with Slay the Spire 2 and raising money for Americans for Immigrant Justice!

...when a temp agency found me something. Sadly it still hasn't led to full time employment, but I enjoy the work and the paychecks again.
It's put a damper on my energy, though. Been hard to balance everything, reconfiguring my life.
Now you know. I hope to get more writing to you all soon. 💜
In the interest of disclosure for those who look forward to my articles (whoever you might be):
I don't often talk about personal stuff v but that's changing here as I get more comfortable with myself.
I was unemployed for 3 years, searching for work. That changed last October...
Ngl been having a hard time writing in 2026 (you may have noticed my lack of authored content on the site).
This vacation has been a good reset. I've finished one article already and on my way to another! Feels good to be energized again.
A thick mens style ring sitting on black stone. The edge of the band has faint lettering on it and the front of the ring features a cresent moon and a star.
Absolutely in love with this ring I picked up on my trip. It's made from a Turkish coin and depending on the light can look more gold or more silver. Toss in the moon and star on the band, it's just perfect!
You might wanna zoom in a bit. But that one holding on with their tail is priceless!
Three monkies at a poolside. One is leaning over for a drink. Another is using its tail to grip a metal handhold to lean in more to reach the water.
Some macaques to bless your TL
One good lizard deserves another.
Fried rice has been served on a plate in the shape of a pyramid.
What's wrong babe? You've barely touched your rice of Giza.
We are live playing Slay the Spire 2 for the first time! We're raising money for "Americans For Immigrant Justice", and giving away game codes while we do it! Stop on by, maybe win a free steam game, and donate to a good cause.

A bowl of salted soy milk. A soup with freshly curled tofu, scallions, soy sauce, and other savory bits.
It's official. When I go home I think the thing I'm going to miss the most are the traditional breakfast items.
Social media apps as Lord of the Rings characters, a thread:
Twitter: Twitter is Gollum. Began as a normal halfling. Overexposure to evil left it thin and stretched and bitter.
A small copper colored lizard climbing up a stone wall, flanked on one side by a tube and on the other by moss and green plants.
Saw this adorable little lizard while I was walking on a mountainside road today. The picture hardly does them justice. In the light, their scales shimmered pure copper! Such a lovely sight.
A box of assorted wontons.
Ice cream match latte in front of a window of greenery.
Braised chicken and rice with side dishes and soup.
Braised beef noodle bowl.
Incoming vacation food photo dump!
A view from a mountain in Taiwan. It looks down over a mountainside town set against green peaks and the ocean in the distance.
The internet's been gazing upwards these last couple days. My own view's been directed a bit more towards Earth.
I wouldn't say by your definition all games are toys in that case, but I also wouldn't completely discount games as toys because of your definition.
I think there are two very valid points here. Because I wouldn't group Mario Kart with any of these things, but I would call it a toy (see prior point in perceptions about play). Games are also art, though, and as an artistic medium, like film for example, it can do a lot as well.
Huh also looked at that data. Surprised to see Daggerheart so high cause of how new it is (though I admit I'm also in love with it).
Lancer being up there is interesting bc of how niche it is in ttrpgs still, though the %s drop pretty sharply after #5.
Lack of Trek games in general has been hitting me hard lately.
On the point you mention about "not cyberpunk," I've noticed that all R. Talsorian's games build in an obvious mission hook structure (Witcher, RED, and Shadow Scar). Sometimes I want more freedom from them but I understand why.
