You're kind of on the right track, but it's not specifically relievers.

What leaderboard is this? (MLB teams since 2025)

1. Tigers, 1.25
2. Rangers, 1.05
3. Guardians, 1.02
4. Marlins, 1.02
5. Mariners, 1.01

Hints: median is ~0.75; 2021 Giants lead the way (by a MILE) this decade at 2.51

A crisp sweeper (86mph) -> sinker (96mph) pair from Will Warren.

A refreshingly honest take on a practice that hopefully will be out of the league before too long.

Coming back to this – great call. I played this for my students at UM as they were walking into the classroom (it's a music class, but I've talked about baseball enough by now that they know the drill)

I feel like @lancebroz.bsky.social would have more to say on this.

I'm fairly certain that one was an offseason project, but your point is taken, and I remember a former Yankees pitcher - Jameson Taillon I believe - saying that he started throwing a sweeper after leaving the Yankees (even though that was their thing) because the learning curve didn't line up.

The Camilo Doval tweaks continue. The YES closeups show a slider orientation change from last season – you can see the one seam wobble around the MLB batter logo in last year's version, and a true four seam flight in this year's, which has a few inches more depth (no matter to Mike Trout, though).

Fastball spin efficiency?

I was at the August 1st game and I'm convinced it did not actually happen.

I would love to be able to believe in Jake Bird, but unfortunately, I will not be believing in Jake Bird.

I didn’t see any of the metrics yet, but Trout came pretty close to a grand slam too, hit to the wrong spot of the park.

This year it's three distinct breaking ball shapes (cutter, vertical slider, curveball) and the changeup is more like a splitter than in '25. He's tweaked his offspeed grip multiple times over the years and has cycled through seemingly every breaker imaginable

Yusei Kikuchi has pitched a lot against the Yankees (with success – 3.27 career ERA over 16 games) and it's like he's a different guy out there each time. No one tinkers with a pitch arsenal quite like he does (@harrypav.bsky.social "loves" this)

Tristan Peters leads the way with 11 bunt attempts so far, split up into two singles, three groundouts (no sacrifices), four fouls, and one whiff. This one from Thursday is by far the most awkward:

Okay, hint! You might associate it with unsuccessful teams while others might associate it with successful teams.

There are some legitimate concerns about this team (left side of the infield is the biggest for me), but the losses this week don't bother me in the long run. An odd, slumpy stretch that they'll snap out of soon.

Austin Wells is hitting .154/.267/.256 and the bottom of the order has been so bad that he leads MLB in intentional walks.

Nothing to add about the down-bad Yankees, so here's a box score inanity that caught my eye. Max Fried going 8 IP/3R is actually quite uncommon. Only other time in the Boone era that a NYY starter pitched that long allowing that many runs is Gerrit Cole on 5/23/22 (5 runs in 8 innings)

My ROY pick this year for BP. Selfishly hoping he keeps up this impressive string of starts.

In today's installment of "everyone throws a sinker now," Carlos Lagrange debuted his new two-seam this afternoon (this was 102mph)

Is this just because he's so horrible at framing that he loses calls on pitches over the plate?
