This is a fascinating exuberant overview of one of the most exciting fields I've worked in in years. Kudos to the authors for putting it together.

For me, Kelvin Katukula Mubiana of Namibia’s NCRST was one of the stars of #Metascience2025. Here he is doing an interview about the conference on the NBC (Namibia’s state broadcaster) youtu.be/ZByH9Ni2VJ8?...
Esitysdialla kuviot, joissa näkyy tutkimusrahoituksen jyrkkä lasku USAssa kaikilla tieteenaloilla.
#Metascience2025 jatkuu. Cassidy Sugimoton (Georgia Institute of Technology) piti puhua aiheesta How to become a science superpower. Sattuneesta syystä aiheena on How to lose leadership in science. Laskelmien perusteella USA menettää johtoasemansa tieteessä Kiinalle yhden vuoden sisällä.
This is an excellent presentation on geographies of science with some very persuasive metrics. The rate of geographical self-citation in US science was particularly striking #metascience2025
Stellar panel to kick off Day 2 of #Metascience2025
A passionate & brilliant opening keynote by @crsugimoto.bsky.social surveying the outlook for US & global science.
Followed by @fidlerfm.bsky.social, John Ioannidis, Lin Zhang & Andy Stirling. Superbly chaired by Chonnettia Jones.
Great read and good context for our all-star, international panel this morning "Are metascientists reinventing the wheel?" 🪄🛞⁉️ #metascience2025

This is an excellent step towards transparency but it still hides the majority of reviews. The next (and most important) step is to publish all reviews and get rid of the arbitrary decision.
Papers mills and other manipulative practices are major problem in scientific publishing system. Addressing this problem requires in-depth system-level understanding of dynamics leading to these practices. At @cwts.nl we have PhD position to work on this!

Open for whom? Open how? Open at what cost? Questions and challenges that @oaspa.bsky.social is asking of itself and all those involved in scholarly communication. A really thoughtful and thought-provoking article about the complexities of open access by OASPA's Malavika Legge
Can we ever have too much #ecological field #data? This Perspective advocates for proper funding and resources to enable collection of long-term ecological data, which is essential to assess animal behavior and adaptation in the face of anthropogenic change 🧪

I'm delighted to have my "Firehose" Upstream article be the first blog post peer reviewed through @MetaROR . The reviews are very high quality and will make a future revision of this piece all the better. Thank you reviewers and editors!

🧯 In perhaps the first time the Publish, Review, Curate model was applied to a blog post, today we publish @csmarcum.sciences.social.ap.brid.gy's "Drinking from the Firehose? Write More and Publish Less", previously out on Upstream.

This video is getting on for 2 years old. I've written dozens of blogs, and done other talks, webinars etc in the meantime, but people still ask me about this one. Apparently it's still of interest. It was certainly a lot of fun! @oaspa.bsky.social youtu.be/yOvpsQ7bDtA?...
