Trying to get humans not to touch dangerous things was a full-time job.
This would have all been a lot easier if I wasn’t so worried about the stupid humans.
I sighed again. I was having a lot of opportunities to do it and I think I was getting good at it.
I love it when humans forget that SecUnits are not just guarding and killing things voluntarily, because we think it’s fun.

Elizabeth Freeman (“Mumbet”) portrait by Susan Anne Livingston Ridley Sedgwick, 1811. Collection of the Massachusetts Historical Society. Oil portrait of Freeman in white bonnet and blue dress and white kerchief.
“Any time, any time while I was a slave, if one minute’s freedom had been offered me, and I had been told I must die at the end of that minute, I would have taken it – just to stand one minute on God’s earth a free woman – I would.”
Sharing 'Mum Bett' Elizabeth Freeman’s words on Juneteenth.
I just realized I don’t like the phrase “as far as I knew” because it implies how much you actually don’t know. I’m not going to stop using it, but. I don’t like it as much anymore.
A drawing of a sparkly raven sitting on a branch. The caption reads, "Hey, facing unknowns absolutely causes anxiety. It's not weird to be struggling right now."
The company is like an evil vending machine, you put money in and it does what you want, unless somebody else puts more money in and tells it to stop.
Pin-Lee had promised, “Don’t worry, I’ll preserve your right to wander off like an asshole anytime you like.”) (I said, “It takes one to know one.”)

Thank you. Very cool and relaxing change.
I like to intersperse my news reading with a barnacle-observation cleanser. It helps my blood pressure, I think.
A sunny selfie in which I’m wearing roundish sunglasses, my long dark wavy hair half up, half down, an orange sleeveless cowl-necked top, as well as earrings that dangle a black pearl rectangle and white pearl bead beneath a gold hoop, and a Parrish Relics necklace that encloses a floral tapestry image under reflective mica between two brass branches that bend to make an oval together.

Just having such a lovely time at the Tucson Festival of Books. Today’s Love in Spite of it All panel with @constancefay.bsky.social & @rebeccathorne.bsky.social was such joyful chaos!

Some pics from yesterday’s panel at the Tucson Festival of Books. 😊 The room was so packed that they wouldn’t allow any more peoplee in due safety regulations and my booksigning line was so long that I was still there signing after the festival closed for the day. 📚
Next panel is at 10am.
