I think there's underappreciated beauty in the space between "Painted over bathroom tile to hide the black mould in the grout" and "Self-assembled Ikea Furniture"

I think there is beauty in the space between "Painted over bathroom tiles to hide the mould in the grout" and "Self-Assembled Ikea Furniture" that we can all aspire to.

It certainly feels like it.

It is slowly getting changes, so there are eyes on it, but a totally reworked animation player I feel is like a Godot 5 kind of thing haha.

Godot is definitely trending in a great direction and the contributors are doing invaluable work!

That being said, if any Godot contributors are reading this:
Look over the blender import pipeline.
The animation player can break easily during refactor.
Documentation surrounding creating custom Engine tools are lackluster or just missing.
exported Packedscenes in GraphEdit have fake duplicates.

Every new release has me excited for new features, and every time a major version/RC of Godot is released I'll see the changelogs and say "wait, it didn't have that feature yet?"

Use the engine that is right for your game, but I can highly recommend Godot as a solid engine for a lot of projects.

This is not to say I dislike Godot, I love it. We don't have to worry about the rug being swept from under us, it's super fast for iteration, it's node structure is robust, powerful, and extensible.

Loving something means knowing it's limitations, and I hope to see Godot grow as our team continues!

It was only recently in 4.5 that Godot fixed a problem that could cause git to mangle the game files (This was the UUID fix), and that fix had it's own swathe of issues that were only resolved in 4.6. And that's just one issue.

I'd also LOVE to see official @fmodstudio.bsky.social support.

I am a dev currently working in Godot on a game we are taking to full production.

It's a brilliant engine, but you can definitely tell it's young software.

It's on a fantastic path to become a truly excellent engine, and it is VERY capable, but it's not the solution for every problem unity has.

I think one of the key failings where we're not investing in or caring for people is the dire lack of mentoring and knowledge share initiatives.

Passing on "the knowledge" is an indescribable value of human connection, culture, and growth that is slowly being lost.

Share knowledge with peers!

Will take a lil to unpack it all, appreciate everyone who checked in after!
Called nurse mum when we got back to the hotel, helped to chat about it! The guy was alert and sitting in the ambulance as we left so he will be ok most likely, he was extremely lucky how he fell and that we were there!!

It was definitely a situation where the dude was lucky we were there, as his situation was dire without immediate pressure on the wound

It was scary, we thought the dude died when we saw it happen, and we had trouble sleeping that night

We're doing better now, and the con and seeing friends helped

Had a fun, if challenging, visit to MFC

Sorry to peeps we saw on Sunday, Chel and I were a bit rattled

Sat night as we were getting off the train someone got clipped by the train and hit their head on the platform HARD
Chel's first aid training kicked in and saved the dude but we were a bit shaken

You are never going to believe what @lollie.me and I got to do this past week.
For @griffinmcelroy.bsky.social's Trial by Fieri series we had the privilege of putting the man himself into Majora's Mask.

I am begging you. Please learn about stress/discomfort tolerance. Practice raising it. You need this to survive. If someone online can ruin your day with a throwaway comment, you desperately need to understand discomfort tolerance and consciously, systematically build that shit.
Also! Stress tolerance is such an important skill that having a learning disability in that area is a major symptom of a whole lot of other disabilities/mental illnesses! Struggling with it is a huge part of life! It sucks!
Am I saying everyone with misophonia needs to listen to chewing noises all day? No. But you need to find ways to tolerate it enough that you don't treat others like shit if they make a mouth noise near you.
No, you don't have to read the fic with your trigger tags.
But you do need to be able to handle scrolling past the tags without being upset.
It is hard! But not having it also makes you so so so easy to manipulate. That grandma is racist AF because her mom raised her to be uncomfortable around black people and she never fought that discomfort. Trans people make so many cis people uncomfortable and that discomfort turns into bigotry real fast.
Letting your discomfort dictate your actions and beliefs about things is a great way to become a terrible person.
Learn. Discomfort. Tolerance.

Work on the game is slowly coming together, and it's starting to feel much more like an actual game, rather than a collection of tech experiments. We should have something to show for it by the end of the month!

If the Epstein files showed us anything, it's that this often isn't a mistake, and often it's known and collaborated between these in-groups.
