The birdathon raises $ for the education programs of SCVBA, which are basically used to subsidize nature programs for schools in poor areas who otherwise can’t afford the cost of such enrichment programs. Highlights of this year’s effort included an Osprey, a Bald Eagle, and some heard-only Black Rails, all new for our count, plus the always elusive Wilson’s Snipe, the recently arrived Ash-throated Flycatcher & Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher (both personal favorites), & a lone American Pipit.
For the 6th year, the Lean Green Birding Machine birdathon team spent the day biking from one side of Silicon Valley to the other, raising funds for the education programs of the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance. Fittingly, on the 100th anniversary of SCVBA, we found an even 100 species!
In fairness, there’s no reason to expect ICE officers would be any more qualified or any less corrupt than Trump and his Cabinet.

NYT unclear on the meaning of “blockade”. The blockade “began”? Based on what evidence, Trump’s announcement? The guy who was going to stop the war in Ukraine in a day, or whose ACA replacement is coming “in 2 weeks”? A blockade has only started when it is implemented. Where’s the evidence?
