Actually even just toggling left/right on Bluesky is enough to trigger the behavior for me.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Put these two PNG images in a folder.
2. In Finder, select both
3. Press space to open QuickLook
4. Full screen
5. Hold left (or right).

Record with SloMo to capture the blotchy intermediary frames.

Does anyone else experience a splotchy mess when transitioning from dark to light on their Macbook?

This is a two week old 14inch M5 Macbook Pro Nano-Texture with default settings. None of the display options (Preset, True Tone, Refresh Rate, Brightness etc) seem to help.

This is going to be a hard transition.

Literally three times in the last 30mins I've gone to dump a code fragment into a Text Thread to ask the agent to ask a standalone question about it.

Zed Stable v0.230.2, I think you and are going to be good friends:

Amazing to see the initial release had `cmd->` (Assistant: Quote Selection) which allowed you to see/edit the block before submitting it to the model. The current Zed Agent Panel now supports neither.

I cataloged more issue/commit links in this comment, but otherwise have no first hand knowledge. Maybe @ncameron.org has more context.

Otherwise it was fun to research a decade old behavior and implement a fix while upholding rustfmt's super-strict stability guarantees.

I created PR so rustfmt no longer adds newlines to empty files and today it was merged! 🎉

Starting with rustfmt StyleEdition 2027, empty rs files are properly formatted -- no more extra newline required.

2437-rustfmt-stability - The Rust RFC Book

For the next decade (through StyleEdition 2024 today) rustfmt dutifully adds newlines, despite the compiler bug being long since fixed. Changing rustfmt formatting now requires some effort to minimize pain for rustfmt users.

There's even an RFC:

To workaround this, prior to rustc being fixed, rustfmt added a newline to all formatted content. This had the benefit of (a) enforcing a trailing newline on formatted content (b) preventing the rustc panic on empty files. Zero byte files became 1 byte files with a newline.

With some spelunking, I discovered the source of this behavior. Prior to Rust 1.3.0 (2015-09-17) the Rust Compiler would panic if it encountered an 0 byte rust source file, but as long as there was at least one byte (e.g. `\n`) it worked fine.

Have you ever wondered why if you save an empty Rust file your editor might add a newline?

I thought it was a @zed.dev bug, but turns out it's cause Zed by-default enables format_on_save and rust-analyzer. When rust-analyzer invokes rustfmt and that actually adds the newline. But why?

Email: GlassDoor + Indeed.

Email: GlassDoor + Indeed.

Am I supposed to use it to complain about where I work? Or the other companies in the same business park?

Is NextDoor yet another social network where I’m expected to announce my new job so random people I met a decade ago can comment “Congratulations! 🎉 You deserve this!”

3 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

It took me far too long to realize Indeed was merging with GlassDoor and not NextDoor.

For the life of me I couldn’t grasp the private equity AI fever dream where combining profiles of racist NextDoor comments and resumes of unemployed folks led to a profitable synergy.

One of my favorite parts of coding agents is that I can just say "fix my merge conflict".

I will happily pay some number of pennies to outsource the first pass to a machine.

Juul Mango Pods / Mango Carts

Juul Mango Pods / Mango Carts

At a bar with "Mango Cart" on tap. It's amazing how fast this has fallen out of the lexicon. Juul mango pods (along with Creme, Fruit, Cucumber) were discontinued (US in 2019, Canada 2020) but before that were **super** popular with kids.

The beer is a about a literal food cart that sells mango.

I wonder if Claude Code system prompt changes are to blame for the regressions. That is something that we know has changed many times since December.

Curious if a raw API requests (Zed Agent, AmpCode, etc) outside the Claude Code harness/subscription have seen the same degradation.

I don't live in Utah, but I think this would be a fun ride. Eating 10 Costco 1/4 Hotdogs would mean my body would be 1% Costco Dog by weight (2.5lbs/250lbs). That should probably auto-trigger an intervention.

Has anyone else run into this? Or have suggestions for how to gather logging/debug data? It seems to happen most often with PIP videos, but I’ve triggered it during normal local playback too — video stops, play/pause does nothing; quitting apps and reopening is no help.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

I can’t reliably reproduce but it happens 5-6 times a month. Today I was watching PIP Hulu and clicked play on this YouTube link in BlueSky, then clicked to open embedded Safari and then open in the YouTube app. Boom. Everything stops and nothing plays.

I’ve hit a bug for years (5?) where my iPhone gets in a state where video refuses to play. Once it’s triggered no app can play video (YouTube, Hulu, TV, etc) until I restart the device.

This is good news — charter are public schools — and should be subject to the same public records laws as every other school in the commonwealth.

SJC slip text: “GEORGES, J. This case requires us to decide whether a
"[Commonwealth charter school," as defined by G. L. c. 71, $ 89 (g), is subject to the Massachusetts public records law,

Superior Court judge (motion judge) granted judgment on the pleadings in the Attorney General's favor, concluding that Mystic Valley is a governmental entity obligated to respond to the requests.
For the reasons explained below, we conclude that Commonwealth charter schools, including Mystic Valley, are
"agencies" subject to the public records law. As a matter of statutory interpretation, a Commonwealth charter school qualifies as an "authority established by the general court to serve a public purpose," G. L. c. 4, S 7, Twenty-sixth, and therefore falls squarely within the class of governmental
entities expressly covered by the public records law. Accordingly, we affirm the judgment.”

No idea what prompted the change (I no longer work at Zed) but I wish they had distinct Service terms /Editor terms.

Now there’s an incentive to fork & build binaries w/o these terms. Feels like an unforced error.

Note: previous terms were 13+ (same as github). 18+ for AI services seems OK to me.

1 month ago 6 0 1 0

Those terms only apply to the service offerings and official binaries; code is open source.

Under 18 crowd is free to “cargo build —release” and use any other AI service (except Zed Pro).

The big loss is Zed collaboration features. Those require a login and the backend is not open source.

Let me pick shows then present random episodes Tinder-style to hep me build a curated semi-random playlist. This is not rocket science.

No big data, machine learning AI required. Just show me a random episode and ask me if I wanna watch it.
