Just come across this old pic of a band Childermas I had for some time during a sabbatical leave of absence from the madness of the EBB.

No John. That is an Ed O’Brien (Radio Head) signature Strat. It has a sustainer pickup that allows a note or chord to sound almost infinitely. It’s a wonderful thing.

It sounds so different from the fenders. Lots of shiny gloss. A bit Depeche Mode. I’ve fancied one since Brian Jone played the fore runner. Martin Gore plays his own signature model more like the Brian Jones version. They do look fabulous.

I finally sold these for silly money and I bought a Hank Marvin 1990 signature Strat with some of the proceeds. A guitar I’ve always wanted.

I’ve just set up my new studio in Norwich. I moved there in December. I bought a Gretsch Snniversary semi acoustic in green. It arrived a couple of days ago. I’ve always wanted one.
I’m just about to put my vintage Stratocasters up for auction. I shall probably get a really special classical.

Went to see Wuthering Heights because of Charlie XCX involvement. Disappointed. Some fine cinematography but dingy soundtrack. The gut shaking impact when someone places a salt cellar on a wooden table in IMAX format is very irritating. Sinners on the other hand is utterly fabulous. Massive treat.

On new music check Charlie XCX new release featuring John Cale. Yes that John Cale. Preview tracks from Wuthering Heights. House and chains of love. Numbingly powerful. She is on the verge of total superstardom. A unique British performer. Charlie is way ahead of the pop establishment. Great songs.

After my last album BREAK THE DARK I’m working on new music. I don’t intend it to become the basis of songs. I want to explore sound design using field recordings and synth/sampled sound. I have treated myself to a hydrophone, binaural mics and a couple of Zoom digital recorders. I do love tech.
