I agree. But sometimes convincing folks to do the thing that is hard for them, instead of reaching for the tech that makes it easy, is like selling hand crafted goods over cheap mass production.
The thing that scares me is when I hear senior devs talk about collaboration with other humans becoming less important.
Been thinking about this a lot recently. I’m realizing this is less about the changing of juniors and more about the subconscious realization that a senior developer (and the career ladder to get there) is going to look very different within the next few years.

Younger kiddo had a field trip today to Cal; best line of the day was:
Kid: “We met with a bunch of students and what you told me was wrong, they said all their classes are taught by professors not overgraduates.”
Me: “Overgraduates”
Kid: “Yeah, the older students, not the undergraduates.”

Turns out, you CAN do positive things with government in today’s world.
For our kiddos this worked around 4. The key was to not have the decision be emotional (for the parent). If the kid felt they made us angry, the behavior did not change (often reinforced the bad behavior). But if it was a non-emotional response of, “ok, time to go.” The lesson was learned.
Having good friends and hanging out with them is good for your health and is associated with longevity. As such I just wanted to give a shout out to all my lovely friends. You literally give me life. Thanks

This is a good thread. I used to tell people that we need more nuance in these discussions. But honestly I don't ever expect that to happen. It's not that people don't understand nuance. It's that they don't wanna be responsible for figuring it out.
One thing I'm seeing proposed more and more as a prophylaxis against another Trump is to ban felons from holding public office.
And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I *hate* that plan.
