Well, I lightly burnt the meringue topping on a chocolate pie, but the great news is that I made too much meringue to begin with so I just peeled off the subpar meringue layer and tried again. Round 2 with with a lower temp was a great success, nibbled from the reject pile, 9/10 meringue experience

Everything in this operation suggested that this was not the squirrel's first rodeo.

The crackers are white, and labeled "Zest." As if Anjeloma needed more zest. Squirrel, please. You can't see much of the car, but you can see smudges of grunge at the edges of the windshield, where the wipers have cast aside the debris of previous rains and pollen-falls.
The world is stupid, but I just watched a squirrel break into a car in the parking lot below me, steal a package of crackers, and escape to a nearby tree. So at least somebody is winning.

This is hilarious to me, because I was in the first graduating class of Monticello High and it basically *opened* already over capacity - we had classes in trailers at a brand new school in 1998. Hand-wringing about Albemarle school capacity re: housing when that ship sailed like two decades ago lol

In all likelihood I probably conflated some of my 1993 and 1996 Albemarle County storm memories when I shared them with Emily, but each definitely amounted to 1-2 weeks without power and my family had no backup generator for the well water, so all-in-all some bad times were had
