I appreciate the good graphics out of the box, but if you want something actually performant a lot of the engine configuration seems to be needlessly complex and that's not something I love. But the lighting is beautiful and you can get some interesting results quickly, even in a grey box.

Blueprints have been an absolute dream to use and still retain my favourite parts of actual programming, but they get cluttered very quickly, and I still much prefer writing code to anything else. But it seems to be a struggle to do more complex things with it, such as a custom player controller.

At first, things felt very clunky, and the engine felt extremely different from what I was used to, but over time, I began to view it as a mix of the source engine and unity surprisingly. Obviously, this isn't completely accurate, but it's made figuring things out a lot easier.

Been learning UE5 gradually over the past three weeks, and my thoughts on the engine have absolutely changed. For context, I used Unreal a tiny tiny amount over the past several years but only now have decided to really figure it out. I've gone from hating it to really appreciating it!

Okay so bit of an update, I originally rushed this for a deadline but got incredibly burnt out in the process. I don’t think this is worthy of much advertisement, but I will probably launch it on itch within the week.
