The office is moved. The bathroom is refurbished. I have pizza and a good wine, will take a long shower in the new bathroom and then lie in bed for the weekend. π« π΄
Revealing that the Guardian apparently couldn't actually find any examples of the ruling having "changed lives" positively. Those quoted in support simply express political agreement with it rather than being able to point to any tangible life benefit, in contrast to those quoted in opposition.
screencap of a tweet with a photo at the bottom of JD Vance giving a talk, gesturing smugly with his hands Eric Daugherty β’ @EricLDaugh β’ 1h β’ JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO: "When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory." "In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology." "And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."
Iβve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -
POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad
VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??
POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there
This was from a pot and fresh. π
I just don't have time currently to replace the parsley I had in a garden bed but now I'm also wondering whether I should, actually. But that is for the weekend. π
Not unless the supermarket accidentally(?) sells hemlock instead of parsley.
I don't find it excessively bitter but a rather unpleasant, dark green taste that I can't describe otherwise. π
Ok it's finally established, I don't like parsley. It tastes brittle and bitter, gets between my teeth, and sticks to my gums and even pallate. No idea why it's so ubiquitous in European cooking, it's completely overrated.
If you return unwanted Reform local election leaflets to their party headquarters using their free post address, then it will cost the party Β£2.50 per envelope.
Please donβt share this information; it could cost Nigel Farage a fortune.

Considering we're moving offices at work this week, this seems indeed the better option. π
men canβt understand what itβs like for women to see story after story after story of women being victims of sexual violence in a culture where itβs routine; what itβs like to live in a world that is fundamentally hostile to our existence. itβs a wonder we leave the fucking house, let alone thrive.
This reality check by Rebecca Solnit grabs you right from the killer first sentence. Do yourself a favor & give it a read.
we should never take this for granted bc there are many people, including women, who idealize an imagined past that operated according to "biological difference". I'm seeing comments on Instagram everyday that say feminism has ruined women's life and no one should send their children to nursery.

Hello, I made you a feed of your cats watching the Artemis II splashdown bsky.app/profile/did:...
congratulations to the astronauts who get credit for a moon mission using rocket development work by trans women who had to quit their job and flee the state of florida and canβt celebrate this win with their coworkers
Claims we have no power to impact what happens are nevertheless an intervention in what will happen, by discouraging participation, by encouraging passivity, surrender, acquiescence. If you insist that a given outcome is inevitable, you are lobbying against resistance.
the push for impeachment needs to continue. trumpβs body count grows every single day lawmakers allow him to stay in power. this is no way to live and this is no way to die.
We didn't deserve this day.
I have read a statement
that βa whole civilization
will die tonight,
never to be brought back again,β
and as I read that statement
and as I reread that statement
I cannot shake the feeling
that the civilization
from which that statement comes
is one that is already dead.
You can't separate anti-immigrant and anti-trans politics from what is happening with Iran. When MAGA picked transphobia and nativism as its organizing principle, it selected for the capacity to treat entire categories of people as civilizational threats whose elimination is an act of self-defense.
There can be no going back to normal.
Every single one of us has an obligation to make sure that this existing US order goes to ashes, and that something liberatory rises from them.
Without accountability, there will be no moving forward.
the levels of elite impunity we are seeing now and the levels of war crimes we are seeing now are two aspects of the same path of historical development. right now they see war as our problem (and their investment opportunity). it is world historically important that we make war their problem again
Starmer should immediately & unequivocally ban access to British airspace to US warplanes. The UK should not be accomplice to a US President who is threatening more war crimes. Period.
posting this 'ol thing again for no reason
The Moon: oh wow you guys decided to come back
Artemis II crew: earthβs haunted
Y'all there is a woman and a black man circling the moon and NASA's mission control+ science teams are so diverse and people are nerding out about science and exploration this is all a gigantic middle finger to the stupid and hate and grotesque ghouls running our country
Feels timely.
An oval white bowl with small chocolate eggs, and a large Kinder surprise chocolate egg sitting on top of it all.
The Kinder surprise chocolate egg is open and the large inner plastic container is visible, like the fattest egg yolk.
The yellow inner plastic container from the Kinder surprise chocolate egg, held next to a red coffee mug. The plastic egg's size is about three quarters of the coffee mug.
Making my inner 8-year old happy by buying the biggest Γ-egg I've ever seen. π
