“I still look for people with early blogger energy, though — people willing to make an effort to understand the world and engage in a way that isn’t a performance, or trolling, or outright grifting. Enough of them, collectively, can be agents of change.”

Recalling Norman Rockwell's "The Gossips," a slew of computer users share a disc made by a user, each user sharing it with someone else until it ends up in a new machine, beginning the story anew. Artist: Mike Hagel, RUN Magazine Mar/Apr 1991

I have created a self-booting (System 7.5.5) image with most or all (?) of the 68K compatible games from Humongous Entertainment, complete with a Launcher. This should be a drop-in for any BlueSCSI

And wow has it changed. It feels like an almost entirely different show! 66,000 square feet of vintage computers, retro hardware, software, and old school goodness of all kinds. Here's what the show was like (for me) in 2025!
A man with an evil hipster smile, wearing a No Fear shirt, looks up at you, in an orange background. He's looking up over red glasses, so you know he's evil. The title reads, "Get plugged in". Around the hipster floats various consumer electronics: a portable DVD player, a pager, a cordless phone, a satellite disk, a settop DVD player. The text reads: "When you log-on at www.buyitnow.com you'll discover a whole new concept of shopping. You'll find pagers and plasma TV's and everything in between. In addition we've got tools, toys, sports items and even things for your dog or cat. We also offer the best customer service on the web through e-mail, live chat, or phone @ 1-888-55BUYIT. Just remember, no matter where you are or what you are shopping for, at www.buyitnow.com we have a store for you!" Below the logo and motto it says "Shop now @ www.buyitnow.com Secure Fast & Fun!" From the October 1999 issue of Family PC.

Good luck! Just fyi, TinyCore requires a lot more manual tinkering to get it to work. It comes with very little. It's the one thing stopping kin from installing it. There are guides for setting it up though.
Forgot to share. The stylus worked perfectly on both FossaPup64 and BionicPup32. The latter had none of 64's issues, but the drawback is the lack of popular apps. May not be a huge issue. This laptop won't be a daily driver. Still cool tho. #retropc #retrocomputing #oldcomputers
Have you ever tried TinyCore? It was considering using that over BionicPup just to squeeze out a little more performance.
Tried it last night. If Bionic was fast, TinyCore felt instantaneous.
Hell yes! The stylus works! Still... The ram usage will be less than ideal even with a ram upgrade. Time to test BionicPup32. Failing this... Will try MX Linux. If THAT fails, then it has TinyCore. antiX is always a reliable backup, but does it support Wacom stylus? 🤔
Predictably, at 2gb ram it doesn't handle video streaming well. Might do better at 32bit, but it plans to upgrade to 4gb anyway.
Kin will test the Wacom support then check BionicPup32
FossaPup64 performing great on the Fujitsu Lifebook as well! Though it may need to consider BionicPup32 still. It just wanted something with good performance and Wacom support. #retrocomputing #retropc #oldcomputers #linux
Husband asked if it could sell the Toshiba Satellite T135-S1309. It doesn't want to! At best, with upgrades, it could get... $100-150 for it?? And that's being optimistic.
Or is kin crazy? Would someone really pay $100+ for it all cleaned up and upgraded? #retrocomputing #retropc #oldcomputers
Out of curiosity it may still try Peppermint Os and Zorin Os Lite. But it feels pretty sold on FossaPup64. It needs to wrap this up and try the Fujitsu Lifebook next.
Wow. Kin is impressed! FossaPup64 has already beaten Bodhi just on system level performance on the Toshiba. It comes with some useful apps, not a ton of extras. It's tempted to just stop here. Next test was BionicPup32. But why go 32 if a 64 bit works so well? #Linux #computing
The Bodhi test on the Toshiba Satellite looks promising. Built in mic and cam worked, which antiX struggles to do on a different old laptop. WiFi worked. Overall it was a bit sluggish but useable. Upgrading the ram and maybe swapping for an SSD would help immensely.
Testing Fossapup64 now. 🤓
Joy! The Toshiba lives! Turns out it could boot from usb after all. Now the real challenge... Finding a Linux os that plays nice with it. It has many installed on the ventoy drive.
Linux Lite was too much, so it's trying Bodhi Linux next.
Ah, its first snag... The Toshiba is using an ancient BIOS that doesn't list the USB drive in the boot order. It will have to burn an ISO CD and install it via an external CD drive.
The Fujitsu tho, appears able to use the Ventoy stick. Cool.
It has a Toshiba Satellite T135-S1309 and a Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 that it wants to breathe back to life. Got for free, with no OS. Currently exploring some lightweight Linux distros to install on these. Will use a Ventoy USB stick to test. Kin is excited!! #retrocomputing #retropc #oldcomputers
New video! A reasonable person would've thrown this out. I am not a reasonable person! Full Restoration of a rusty Commodore 1702:
